I almost always find that the Faeling are the most intriguing of the Fae Folk, as far as I am concerned. They seem to have such an astounding range of diversity amongst themselves that it is impossible to find two that look alike. And, their appearance varies not only due to their genetic lineage, bit also due to the amount of Magic they can wield. The more Magic a Faeling inherits upon birth, the more whimsical its appearance. These have dragonfly and butterfly wings, often with humanoid fleshtones. These Higher Faelings can hide themselves and fly by using magic, whereas the Lesser Faelings must rely on biology to keep them alive. However, like all Fae Folk, Lesser Faelings do possess some amount of Magic, and oftentimes use it to hide themselves from humans who do not already know of their existence.

Here, a Lesser Faeling perches, letting the sun warm its strange, almost bat-like wings. Its colors, much like many birds and insects, hide it from likely predators, such as cats and raptors. Likewise, it preys on insets and small mammals. When not hunting or sunning itself, the Faeling will oftentimes spend time with others in the area, or collect shiny things to keep in its nest. In the summer, they often hunt fireflies, which seem to be a great treat to them, due to their glow, and value as a food source.

What an amazing world we live in, where science blends so readily with Magic.
