I'm slowly getting into the groove of my new book, title still yet to be announced, and started doing some promotional art for it. This will actually be a poster that you'll see throughout the book about a pub known as the Ruby Mirage. It's a really fancy one though. These ladies are the hostesses there as well as some supporting characters in the story. I'm really digging the flat warm colors and semi-Art Nouveau style of the lineart. I might use this style throughout the book for design elements. Not really for the how the characters are drawn though. I've never liked thick outlines around the characters except for them to stand out from the background. I'm trying to be a bit different with how I ink though. More curvy, wavy lines or something. Anyway, I think this gives you a little more of an idea of the setting of the story. It's modern, like our time, but just kinda alternate universe I suppose. Think... Final Fantasy X. Really advanced but still kinda back water town-ish. I can already tell you though, drawing these three chica's was a pain and a half. It's all of that hair and the ruffles. I think once I've done it more it won't be so bad. But I can see myself going insane drawing them over and over again. I'll have the finished, as in shaded, version of this soon.

The girl on the left (my left), I like her hair and outfit the best (you know, her butt is bigger than the others'? lol, sorry, I just noticed it because I like looking closely at details), but the girl in the middle, HOW do you make her hair curve like that? It's stunning and really pretty, I love it! The red color on their outfits is a really nice shade, and I really like their boots. Have you been practicing art for years, or what? Because your techniqiue, not only in shading, creativity, mood and coloring is good, but you've really got human (or, as the case may be in some, faerie) anatomy down! It produces really amazing artpieces, like this one.

your shadeing in most of your drawing is so coloreful and really stands out its simpley am,azing and then when you go and do something simple like this, it really shows just how good your drawing is too, the soilds really show off those skills lovely work

They are beautiful! Their faces especially are really gorgeous. I think the flat coloring and the overall color scheme really work. Has a bit of a fantasy/old west feel to it!

Wow. Haven't seen your flat (unshaded) work much, but this looks great.
The colouring is really nice, those warm brown colours and such. They do look like a handful to draw .. very many ruffles =_=;; but keep working because it looks really good.

Only one thing... With the girls that high up u cant read the " ruby mirage" obviously we can read about it in the artists comments section or in the book itself .. its just an idea to group the ladies closer or move the wording up.. i dont know

The colors and the designs have a very Alphonse Mucha -like air to them. I love the color scheme, too. Very western and comfortable. Somehow, the fact that 'brothel' is tacked on to the end of bar and restaurant makes me laugh...

Reminds me of the "Bad Magic" poster from some late 90's image comic that was a blatant ripoff of the anime "Trigun". Good picture, though

You did a nice job! In the comic I was doing for the RSOM contest I kept drawing telephones (don't ask me why) and it was driving me nuts. I can't draw phones, they end up looking like deformed bananas. LOL Eventually, once you start getting passed the annoyance, if you keep drawing you'll get better at the ruffles and stuff.

This time frame is modern but has elements that are currently not possible.
My book has that too. It's a thing done often in science fiction/fantasy books. The best way to go if you ask me.
They look Wild West but of course back then with all the dust flying like crazy showing anything other than leg was though to be crazy
