Description and Winter died her yearly death,
but her throes were long and deep;
she suffered and she struggled so
and wist not that her reign should sleep.

she raged and fought thru Apriltime
and blasted all that dared to grow,
she would seem to relent for one moment,
and then unleash her ice and snow.

but patient, her sister, dearest Spring,
crept soft throughout the ragged earth
encouraging all the growing things and
urging on their jeweled birth.

so Winter sighed her final sigh,
wept the last sleet on the land;
and Spring swept forth and pried the scepter
from her sister's cold dead hand.

Absolutely soul wrenching this, my darling sister. Between the beautiful vision you've created for the eyes, and the words which reach in to touch the heart I find myself utterly enchanted. Keep up the fabulous work!

I love your comments, Kacey dearest. Thank you so much! Hehe, in this metaphor, you must be Spring, with flowers all down your blouse.

This is good, just one problem, fix the colors, they are monotone now (1 color only) and then fix the background, i dont want to see negative space Keep it up!

NatalieKelsey In reply to replicagfx [2007-04-17 03:57:49 +0000 UTC]

PS Monotone is a sound. Monochrome is one color. And it's three colors, black, white, and green. So it's really trichrome.

I'm with Winter on this one, the monotone suits this piece well, and the piece is beautifully composed.

Beautiful picture AND poem! You are so talented... [shakes head in utter disbelief]

In Arizona there is no spring. It goes Summer, Summer that's not so cold, Summer that's a little bit colder, Summer that's not so cold, Summer.

You're very welcome!

I love the weather, but sometimes I miss the snows of Oregon... Sometimes.

So, the jewels of spring were glowing
Their beauty shined throughout the night
But someone else yearned for the scepter
Miss summer prepared herself to fight...

I somehow like the idea of the seasons a set of bickering sisters or a bunch of mean old ladies fighting ^^
Aanyway, I love the green tone. It's so calming and beautiful. A delight for my sore eyes ^^

What a wonderful addition to the verse! I often lament my inability to draw, because I definitely see the seasons as young, tempestuous sisters. Each with her own personality. Thank you for your comments.
