Description
To purchase this image as an exclusive limited edition print please visit my website @ WWW.NATEZEMAN.COMWe spent the better part of this morning wandering around trying to find bears. We knew they were all around us, but the fog was so thick it was impossible to spot them. The best we could find was a fox clamming on the flats. Eventually we grew tired of the fox and we headed up to the top of this cliff that overlooks the bay to eat lunch. I was told the view from up there was normally incredible and it was still pretty amazing even with zero visibility. There were tons of wildflowers up there and a bald eagle perched on the edge for good measure. After we were done eating lunch we debated whether or not to head back to camp because finding bears was proving impossible. Luckily for us a spot of fog cleared for just a second and from our birds eye view we could see a bear clamming off in the distance. We quickly headed out to get to the bear. We had to make one short stop to let the fox go up the trail we were trying to get down. It had found a huge fish on the flats and was eagerly running it back to his den. Animals have the right of way here and we were happy to watch it pass by. Eventually we found the bear hiding in the fog and spent the next hour or so photographing it. I always love shooting in any kind of weather let it be rain, snow fog or whatever. I like the mood it adds to a photograph.

Is it dangerous photographing bears in a thick fog? Since they may be closer than you might realize?

Lovely capture. The depth of field is great and the fog certainly creates a good atmosphere.

o0ooo is that this year with all the haze/smoke/fog we're getting? Lots of visitors were so sorely disappointed. They just had to trust us locals that there were Mt.s to the east and Ocean to the west.
annnyways.. beautiful shot! How close was he?

Amazing how close you got.. seems extremely dangerous, especially knowing there's bears all around you that you can't see.
Nice shot.

Amazing shot and that is the supermodel of bears ! Just a gorgeous example of the species. The fog also makes it special. It reminds me somehow bears and other creatures could pass out of this world and only exist in our dreams one day. But I hope not , we are priviledged to know them.
