Description I did this for a contest at Artxilla. The contest was to take the existing character Hellboy, and make your own female version of him. This is what I came up with.

Like the 'cuts' on the skull(The big Background skull, not hers...cause she's a girl. Duh!)

I can't seem to find any HB trades in Britain so can anyone give me a brief run down on his bio?

Thanks, man! I don't know about Hellboy's bio...I've never actually read the comic...but it does look kinda interesting. You could probably find the trades online somewhere if you do a search.

Easy... ::cracking knuckles::

Depending on what version (there's the comics, which came out first, then the first live-action movie in 2004 [which you've probably seen by now, I hope! it's fun!], then the two animated movies [also very good!], then the second live-action movie from 2008, and the still-running comic), HB came to Earth in late 1944, summoned by Nazis with a bit of help from a Mysterious Creepy Guy, who was later identified...said Creep wanted to destroy the current world so he could be in charge of the next one, and specifically asked for something to help him with that. He got Hellboy...as a baby.

Fortunately, the good guys (Allies) found him and raised him, with one British guy in particular being a big influence: Professor Trevor Bruttenholm (pronounced "Broom"), an expert in the paranormal, who initially raised him in secret in an American military base "somewhere in the Southwest." ::HUGE WINK AND NUDGE::

Despite the "veddy proper" Englishman having the most day-in, day-out contact with him, HB seems to have been more influenced by the more rough-and-tumble, informal soldier guys around him, but he loves Prof. Broom as a father figure.

In the comics universe, HB was "outed" to everyone in 1952 by the U.N., who after years of study, pronounced publicly that he was to be considered an adult human being (after only 8 years on Earth, he actually looked about 18) and given full rights thereof. In the live-action movies, he was still a secret, as was the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense he and others (Abe Sapien, Liz Sherman; look them up on devArt, they're kewl) belonged to. The animated movies are more like the comics, in that the B.P.R.D. and HB are known.

How time flies. It's been five years since and right now I'm thinking of picking up 'The Art of Hellboy'. Thanks for the bio, though. It's still notoriously hard to collect every single issue of Hellboy or all the trades, so mostly I've read the collected edition tales and not the actual original tpbs.

Darth-Hellgrrl In reply to geezone [2009-04-05 04:40:28 +0000 UTC]

Ah ... yeah, the graphic novels are now up to ... eight, I think (all worth it!), and the Second Edition ones have stuff that wasn't even in the original comics, or the First Editions, so they're worth it (especially on Amazon! they rock!).

My hubby first tried to introduce me to HB in comics form in the mid-90s; I wasn't interested ("_Black_ and _white_?! And the best guy in there is a demon from Hell?"), but I agreed to go with him to see the first movie in 2004 (why are American guys afraid to go to movies by themselves? sheesh!) and liked it. Then I saw the Director's Cut, and loved it, so I started collecting ...

I now have every published piece of HB writing (no matter how bad ... gawd, I gotta get more selective!), both prose and comics (Mignola and others, but not Hellboy Jr.; don't care for that), and all the movies. And a lot of action figures, some even out of their packaging!
