Page 2 of Nonplayer #1, released April 6 2011 by Image Comics. You can buy a copy of the comic here: [link]

And the digital version of the comic can be found here: [link]

All of the pages for Nonplayer are drawn directly in Photoshop CS3 using a Cintiq tablet monitor. For line work I use default brush settings at 100% hardness.

For coloring, I use the popular Multifill and Flatten plugins ([link] ) to build selectable areas of color, and then I add new layers of color at different blend modes and opacities (this is a pretty random, haphazard, and slow process).

Although each pic is awesome, that second panel is phenomenal. Great colors, very neat line work, and a killer landscape between the clouds, trees, and cairns. Also very interesting armor concepts. Great work!

Holy sh#t! Thanks for adding this to #IndieGraphicNovels!

There is a great amount of unique style and personal technique that has gone into your story. I think I can apply myself harder in my own work after seeing the pains that you have taken to create such a thing. I'm sure many others feel the same way. Thanks again, dude!

I just love this comic. The art reminds me a lot of Italian comics.

Gotta say, I'm really loving the work. I especially loved the two page spread at the end of the issue. It was genius.

Offhand, when drawing on your cintiq, do you have issues near the top of the screen where it gets "wobbly" when drawing the lines? Im noticing this of late, though it doesn't occur anywhere else on the page. Makes getting lines as straight as i like a pain (12wx though...wish i had the 21)

Yeah, I DO get that. I think it's less of an issue with the 21UX, but I hope it's something that has been resolved in the newer models.

Well, at least it isn't just my unit then. That's always a plus.

What settings do you use to get your lines so nice and crisp?

Your art is fantastic! well recommended by Ryan Ottley. what made you decide to use Photoshop rather than traditional, illustrator or Manga Studios? I usually draw in illustrator (no where near your level) with an Intuos. I will pick this comic up in Trade!
