There are three specific type of potions in the game. Starting with the healing potion.

The Healing potion obviously does what you think it does, heals you.

The Animal shape-shifting potion is a potion that let's you shape-shift into your animal form. Like Rayman can turned into a kangaroo, Barry can turn into a hummingbird, Barbara can turn into a bear, ny many more. But doesn't work on people who are anthropomorphic animal creatures like Globox or Murfy.

And then there's the Energy protection potion. This one is quite a useful potion, as it creates a energy force field around you and protects you from enemy attacks, projectiles, explosions, just about anything. But the force field has a meter though, the meter doesn't drain as you use it but rather with how much impact the force field takes. You can hold it up as long as you want, but it will break after taking too much damage.
