This is somewhat inspired by "The Flagellants" by Carl Von Marr which was on display at the West Bend Art Museum in WI, but now moved to Germany if I recall correctly. It features a very evil life-size priest clad in black leading on a bunch of wack jobs beating themselves with barbs. Foolish behavior for sure, but a colossal, epic painting!
