Elisabeth Lovejoy, the lieutenant of the Rangers, and the enchantress Aura Lockhaven are best friends. They are also blood sisters, sworn to each other after saving each other's lives. One late afternoon, while wandering down a street in Amoria, Aura spied a handsome man.

"Look at that boy! He's pretty," Aura said to Elisabeth.

"He most certainly is!" Elisabeth said.

"You aren't married. You owe it to yourself --"

"I most assuredly do!"

"Shall I cast a love spell?"

"No, no. I have this under control," Elisabeth said. "I'll see you in a few days."

"A few days? Oh, mericiful heavens!"
