This painting was done as an entry for "Beneath the Waves" an ArtOrder publication. theartorder.artcall.org/My idea behind this painting was that mermaids are not nice creatures. They feed on fish and humans. Some pirates or sailors have captured one, tied her up in order to bring it to land for display. They feed it by splashing her with buckets of sea water and fish.

Wow!! Looks like she has a powerful tail & toned upper body...I’ll bet she could easily break a man in half!! The gill-slits in her hip area look pretty cool, along with the extra fishy fins on her long sinuous tail! She’d look outstanding with some translucent flesh-tone webbing membranes between her fingers, too!!
