The least favourite part of my costume by far, the flak vest!One other reason I chose to sew this as a separate piece was because I had never dealt with EVA foam before, and figured the more parts of the costume I can make by sewing, the better, since I'm at least familiar with that.
The biggest piece of advice I'd offer here is to never use lining fabric, of course. I had hoped it would be okay since the vest was going to be all sewn up, but Murphy's Law loves to apply itself to cosplay, dontcha know.
Gorilla Super Glue is pretty good stuff--it dries in roughly 30 seconds, and the metal snaps and velcro strips are all still secure.

I suppose it's just an idea for now, but I found rather interesting things while looking for LED lights. Glowing LED shoelaces in orange, I think they would go a long way in making the vest look more futuristic and give it some wow-effect.

Haha, no. I stuffed it with plain cushion foam; it's just for appearance.
