Hi Cy, Thank you.
quick question... how do you like your 400mm lens? I trying to decide between getting a 600mm lens or buying the 400mm lens with a couple of extenders ( 1.4X and the 2X ). with the 400mm I can save like $2500.00 over buying just the 600mm. I buying the winner in another 3 weeks, so your input is valuable. later George

I have the 500mm George and love it, I do have a 100-400 which is a great lens for walking about with but cannot be compared to something like the 400 mm F/2.8 which is super fast and sharp.
If I could have afforded it I would have got the 600mm but that was just too expensive compared to the 500mm, I had thought about waiting a year to buy it in the hope the price may have come down which it has not bummer I could not have bought a year earlier as the 600 was the same price as the 500 is now.
I think the 400mm is such a good lens, bit heavy but worth it, the 600mm is a real beast too but again worth it, either of them are a dream piece of kit, my main suggestion is you get to a store and handle them on a camera on thier own, with a monopod and tripod, you will soon decide, the store should be happy if they know their going to sell some thing expensive.
