Description
I had the pleasure of watching this red fox this morning as it was catching field mice! I watched it for over 20 minutes and shot about 60 pics of this red fox. It was stalking the grass humps and then pouncing on them . He caught 3 mice or voles as I watchedI have seen this behavior many times in the field, but always from a greater distance. Today I finally got a close up of the action that has eluded me for a couple of years.

Apparently all types of foxes all over the world do the 'mouse pounce'. We have three little 'disabled' desert greys that Game and Fish coerced us into taking in (two are deaf and one was injured and never learned to hunt) They pounce each other, they pounce their squeaky toys, and they occasionally give in to temptation and pounce the Pomeranians, being about the same size. Jessica, the oldest, learned to pounce bubble wrap, perhaps because she can just barely hear it, and she taught the others. She also loves to ride in her pet seat in my little Z4 roadster, which has a retractable hard top.

I could use a few to get the voles. Most mice hibernate but voles don't seem to. They are more destructive than mice. UGH. Foxes are beautiful and fun to watch.
