Thanks for the comments everyone. This is a very exciting project for us.
-As for heaviness of the piece, we are using mostly very thin pieces of metal to wrap shapes we are making out of other materials. So everything is fairly light. Although we are using aluminum so even thicker pieces like the belt (1/4" aluminum) arent TOO heavy. maybe 5 lbs.

Thats a sharp eye. The bright parts are 1/32" sheet aluminum. Very light and bendable. Wont stop bullets.... The belt on the other hand is made from 1/4" aluminum. That could stop some smaller rounds. haha. I know 1/2" aluminum will stop 45 cal pistol rounds. 1/4" might do it too... Anyway, the darker parts are made of plastics and epoxy then painted with auto paint.

We originally started with foam and plastic but quickly switched to metal. We didn't intend to get so detailed but it just kind of happened, lol. For the most part, we are using aluminum pipe and sheet aluminum. The real metal makes it look so hot! Thanks for the support!

Thanks man! Yeah we are using real metal- almost entirely aluminum. There are a lot of other materials involved too though. Some of the painted areas are made out of epoxy and plastics. And in a lot of areas the metal is a wrap of 1/32" aluminum. So its not too heavy. Other pieces like the belt are solid though and they are reasonably hefty, but again, its aluminum so the weight isnt too bad.
Equipment: 14" jet bandsaw, tabletop 4x36 belt sander, 1" bandsander and some other odds and ends. The bandsaw does the heavy lifting on this project.
Thanks for the compliment. Weve seen a lot of foam armor sets and we took a lot of inspiration from them. We know other suits will be more detailed or accurate than ours but I figured we could do something special material wise.
If you interested check in with us again. We will be at san diego comiccon in july and will post updates frequently until then. You can also follow us on our blog if you like:

Looks like thin sheet metal. Easily pliable.
