Another entry for =knockingghosts 's monster contest.

This was actually pretty interesting for me, because I have such a penchant for the gruesome monsters that drawing something graceful and pretty that was still mutated and some kind of creature was new
anyhow

This was once some kind of deer, which ran afoul of nuclear substances, and mutated into this strange creature. After breeding with other mutated animals, this new species (still nameless as of now) emerged. They stand approximately 10 feet tall (from hooves to top of the head), and have are a slightly flexible bone structure (think somewhere between cartilage and bone) allowing them to run and jump very high and fast with minimal energy output. These bones also absorb much shock from falls or missteps, helping survival. They are known for their graceful, fluid movement, and revered as deities by some people.
These deer feed off of any bark of branches from trees (being unable to reach the ground with their mouths) and must wade into water in order to bend down far enough to drink. Because of the scarcity of plants, they also prey on small birds, eggs, or rodents that nest in trees, which they catch with the preying-mantis like claws coming from their chests. The brindle pattern of the coat helps blend in with the trees or rocks around them.
They are not aggressive, and will flee if approached- they have yet to be tamed by a human, though it is doubtful they would be very useful, as their flexible bones may not support the weight of a rider or cargo. This has yet to be tested however.
These deer have the possibility to serve as both a male or female when reproducing (presumably to help the species chance at survival) and thus all sport horns.
