This is the correct version and paint scheme for the Battle of Midway. By that point in the war, the Navy painted over the white and red stripes on the tail.

No, no. There's an SBD-2 that is confirmed to have served with a shore-based Marine squadron at Midway. It's the only known Battle of Midway survivor. The one in your photo is in the same museum and even has the same markings. https:
