Even so, this is a stunning shot - the various tones of dark gold are gorgeous and set a very warm, comfortable mood. The boat in the center is a nice touch and adds a touch of interest to what would otherwise be a very generic sunset photo.

As you mentioned, it's hard to take very different sunset photos. The objects are usually the same; clouds, boats, people, mountains etc. The things that makes a sunset shot original mostly depends on the weather condition. So it's not up to you or your technique. From this perspective, if you're lucky enough you'd have a stunning weather for the sunset.
For this shot, all I can say is that I was at the right place at the right time. And I was lucky to see this sunset and give you only a glimpse of this moments...
