Edit: Finally got off my lazy butt and fixed a typo I'd been procrastinating fixing.Hey guys! Long time no update?!
Ok, I'm really sorry this one took me almost 9 months to get this one done. I told myself I'd have this finished and up no later than December. But then A LOT of crap went down and by the look of things, my life isn't gonna get any less hectic. (Seriously, it got so bad that I actually resorted to drawing a single panel a day before going to work, just so I could get this done!) Regardless, it's done now and I'm so glad it is!
So about this page:
WOOOOOOOOO!!! 2 new teammates!!!!!! The team is FINALLY starting to take shape! (And it only took me 7 pages to do it... )
Anywho, I'm super happy to introduce Anabel and Knack to the comic! I do feel kinda bad that Anabel got so little screen time in this update compared to Knack. I'll probably give her a small bonus comic to help flesh out her character a little later.
And HOOOOOBOY are the Pokemon on Routes 1 and 2 jerks! Seriously, 2 crits in a row?!?!
But yeah, I think I went a little overboard with the crit text. My tablet was out of comission for a good while and so when I finally got it back I was eager to do something kinda flashy. The dirt smears on Lyn were also a ton of fun to do! I'm still growing and experimenting as an artist, but I can proudly say that I've seen some small improvements here and there since I first started this project.
And with that, I disappear to work on the next page! Sorry I'm leaving you all with a cliffhanger! I'll try and get the next one out as soon as possible!

Giving characters only accessories and nothing else to make them different is not a good character design. Come on, go wild and make them actually different and interesting. Like, you have two extremely similar Rattata here: even though Knack seems to be furrier one, there could be more differences in body shape, color or even their whiskers. Use your imagination!

Well, I did actually put quit a few differences between Knack and Niki. But I guess they're just too subtle to catch? Knack has claws while Niki's are closer to paws. Niki is also a lighter shade of purple than Knack and her ears are a bit bigger and droop more while his are more round. The accessory thing was just a way to further differentiate them and make them stand out more. Give them a bit of style and flare. I also wanted them to still look similar enough that the audience could still look at them and tell that they're both rattatas.
I do get where you're coming from though and I'll take it into consideration when introducing new characters. I guess I just sort of have my own weird way of looking at characters and designing them. Honestly the whole accessory thing was just a silly little thing I thought up that would add to the fun of making the comic.
