Yes. In the first chapter, Bendy doesn't chase us. After seeing him, you can stand at the boarded up entrance to the Ink Machine and you are safe. At least me after spending about five or more minutes out of sheer curiosity, I didn't note that anything would try to kill me - just like that, the floor was getting more and more inked and the pursuit music was getting more and more annoying. It turns out that the first chapter is the only one in which we are genuinely unable to die. Think about it.
My Bendy likes to piss Joey off. But, well, when you're a prisoner and you can't do much about it, and you can't kill yourself, you might as well get on your torturer' nerves whenever you have the opportunity.
I also think (considering the end of the game) Joey's niece is the only human person Joey has any warm feelings about. I might be wrong. But even when creating my motherfucker Joey, I didn't want him to be pure evil in human skin.

I couldn't wait for Friday to add this in. Bendy's spots were extremely pleasant to do for me. We'll see how it will be with the next strip...
By the way, a fun fact - did you notice that in the first chapter Bendy doesn't generate his spots at all? I was a bit surprised and I wondered: does Bendy control the appearance of spots, or maybe right after leaving the machine he does not have this skill yet. In the comic, I adopted the second option, but the first will certainly appear (and I'm looking forward to it, because I honestly hate making those damn spots).
