Should I apologizes.?

[I really don't know how to take your comment (which is quite rude)].

If this tutorial didn't help you at all well I'm sorry.

However, a little '' thanks anyway '' wouldn't have been much.

[I took time for making this tutorial that you were looking for.!]

Of course, If you had wrote down what didn't worked for you, I could have helped you.

[Geez.]

sorry for coming off rude
I was just very frustrated
so, what didn't help me was that you, and many other tutorial makers, seem to explain things in the least amount of detail possible
You said to use certain tools that I've never used before, such as the burn and dodge tool, which not only I could hardly locate them, but when I did, I had no idea how to use them
especially the dodge tool, which seemed to not work at all the way it did for you
I think if you would have showed your progress using the tools and explained what settings you needed, it would have made more sense or turned out better

First, when you're looking for tutorials you shouldn't be waiting to get everything straight and clear and all done for you. You have to work a little bit on your side too.

When I was a beginner in digital art I was looking for every little tips I could get and then work it out by myself.

What astonished me was that you're complaining about how you '' could hardly locate them '' while speaking about the burn and dodge tool. I mean.. come on. You only have to pass with your mouse over the tools in photoshop. A little box with their names should pop-up. This is not that hard.

[rant]

Of course, I could have done all the steps. One by one. A screen-shot at the time. However, do you realize how much time this take.!? Seriously. And, it's not like I was paid for it or anything. Guess what, some people even have the guts to come and tell me that my tutorial '' didn't help at all ''. Oh and of course, no thanks [that's wayyyy~ too much asking].

[/rant]

Anyway, my last point is that if you '' have no idea how to use them '' then go look for a tutorial about those tools in photoshop.! It's by combining tutorials, practice and trying by yourself that you will get better and eventually achieve what's shown in the damn tutorials.

[Sorry again, I just get a little pissed off. Like I said before, when I was beginning... I wasn't expecting to have everything done for me by someone else. Anyway, I'm not mad at you or anything like that. It's just that recently, I saw a bunch of '' beginners '' [if you don't mind] asking for everything without having to left their pinkies. ]

So my best advice is to work hard, practice by yourself and take a gook look at all the tutorials you can find on the internet [believe me, there's plenty of them.!]

Oh and of course... because I'm not a bad person and that I can understand that you could have been very frustrated too, here some useful links for you.. [I think] :

Have fun ~

It's not that I want EVERYTHING done for me
I just wanted to learn the technique, so once I was comfortable with trying someone else's technique, I could master my own
Which is exactly what I did when I was learning how to draw anime traditional style about 8 years ago
Also, it's not exactly like you'd be doing everything for beginners, or people who were viewing your tutorial, because they still have to draw it and try to imitate what you're doing
I think what the real problem is, is that artists like you and even I don't want our style to be stolen, which is understandable because when you have your own art style it's supposed to be yours and more often than not when people are learning to draw, they take on someone else's style
I didn't exactly need those tool tutorials, but I thank you for them anyway
I can't say I fully understand photoshop, but I understand most of the tools, I just had a hard time locating the burn tool, which didn't really matter much, it was just something random that was on my mind

J'aime beaucoup, j'essayerais d'ici peu!

Faved, aint got access to painter with my tablet at the moment but i had a go on MS Paint lol I managed to do a pretty good copy with bog standard brushes, did you use watercolor types?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Nayou In reply to BreakNeckTurtle [2009-03-21 21:21:59 +0000 UTC]

Nope. I only use the round hard brushes [in photoshop] and then the blur tool. But, I guess that the watercolor brushes can works very well too.!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BreakNeckTurtle In reply to Nayou [2009-03-21 21:24:04 +0000 UTC]

Ah you used blur, figured it was either watercolor or dodge/blur being applied - MS Paint hasnt got a blur/dodge tool so I cant finish off the attempt

Oh well, when my adapter arrives I can try it properly then XD

Very NICE! Eyes are my favorite part of character drawing, so I'm quite sure that I'll be using your tutorial.

I love how shiny you made they eyes in this tutorial, they look so lively!
I can't stand flat, dead looking eyes...... no matter how awesome a picture is, if someone draws their characters with dead eyes I find it REALLY hard to it.

For the eye shines, place them from where the main light source come in your picture. Concerning the pupil, I don't have any tips... Keep praticing.
