Now, this isn’t meant to cause a ruckus. This isn’t an attack on anyone. Consider this simply…. My personal snapshot of the anime community’s social makeup. You don’t have to agree, but this is how I see it.Guys like this don’t exist in the real world. There is no REAL Sasuke Uchiha.
Unfortunately, there DO happen to be those indamnedable headbands.
Let me say this: You can be hot as hell, but as long as you’re wearing one of those things,
You will NOT get laid.
…Except if you’re at an anime convention. And even then, that’s a big maybe! People around there know how lame you are for still watching Naruto long after all the good scraps have been eaten by rabid fans and 4kids recycles the rest into blobs of “BELIEVE IT”-dom in hopes that the next generation might never be any the wiser.
Hey, don’t stop and think about the orange jumpsuit and it’s functionality— don’t think about how retarded it is—just absorb all the weeaboo knowledge you can! You’ll be tested on all these jutsu’s in tomorrow’s episode! Make sure to cosplay Sexy No Jutsu, too! Glue cotton balls on your sweet, supple jail bait bodies and run about in conventions, female fans! Or even worse… Legal women? God forbid someone over 18 is watching the 310th episode on their computer, avoiding alcohol stains on their Linkin Park tour shirt!
Do I say Naruto was never good? No. I liked it ages ago, but I’ve heard it all too much. I’m sick of it, as a ton of people are. It’s dead, and you will be too if you walk by me wearing $250 Sharingan contacts. Defend it all you want, you still look retarded when you wear shit like that in public.

I completely agree here. As a matter of fact, his type of character isn't attractive to me at all(sasuke). Talk about lame to just dull.
Naruto in general shows how bad some anime are today. You think it might be better...then it just gradually disperses through the path of LAME!!

Naruto was a great idea and I do think the manga wasn't that bad, but oh god. When it became mainstream and the anime happened, I just died. And so did it.

Take Death note even...for example. I just lost interest after L died, and the anime went from awesomeness for the first, say, 10 episodes and then drollage all around.

The Naruto anime died after its first episode, in my opinion. I'm.. baffled, to put it lightly, that people run around in costume as if they believe they can be the next hokage. (LOL IT'S NOT GOING 2 HAPPEN BELIEVE IT ROFL!!1!one!)
*coughs* Anyway... Although the anime and merchandise should never have existed, I still remain a fan of the manga, because it hasn't been tainted by idiots. And... that's all I hafta say really.

I really think he should have left it at the pilot chapter(kishimoto), since that story was, an interesting tid-bit to say the least.

I like Naruto, but when I see those people who are so obsessed with it... it scares me... I mean, when I first saw the headbands I sort of laughed and said, "Oh wow, that's merchandising for you," and then I see so many people wearing them. And I still forced a smile and waved it off.
Cosplay sounds like fun if you only do it once in a blue moon, but if you dress up as a character every time you go to a convention, that's kind of creepy.
And the orange jumpsuit. Why orange? Maybe Naruto really is a special-ed ninja, if he can't even wear something that might CONCEAL his location. Though red isn't much better.
Though I like the show, I try to not take it seriously.
I mean, it's a TV show, it's just a form of entertainment.
And thank you to those of you who read all the way through this even though it started out with "I like Naruto."

Also also. 4kids has screwed over almost every anime they have ever shown. They censor breasts. And not the kind when someone is naked. They get rid of the shadows on girl's shirts where their breasts stick out. It's not like kids have never seen them before.

Ugh. Honestly, the only good things are the uncut DVDs. At least they don't cut out all the swearing and such. We've heard it all before.

True. Animation is animation, no matter what part of the world it comes from. You can't give the credit to just one person, just look at the cavemen and their wall paintings. It'd be rather hard to give one group of semi-feral primates the credit when it has been several thousands of years.

Hm. I completely see what you mean, and agree with you to a large degree. But I do think there's nothing wrong with showing your fandom (like a naruto headband) as long as you do it tastefully... Such as... Don't look like a greasy pedophile--if you're over 21--otaku, when you wear it. A good friend of mine wore one on her belt and it looked fine...
I personally am not a huge fan of Naruto... I mean, I'll admit, the first couple of episodes, I loved it... but... it just drags on with no clear direction for the plot and ZERO character development. Also, the art is GENERIC, and the quality somewhat poor. The dialog and voice acting makes it painful to watch. The fact that they still derive enjoyment from the show makes me a little sad... At least, if they take it seriously. I don't like people who don't have an intelligent base in their reasons for liking anime. Because that's when anime, as a genera of animation, gets a bad name and receives mountains of undeserved disrespect as an art form. Personally, I wouldn't regard Naruto as art.
In all fairness, I'm not completely immune to the fandom craze myself: I'm guilty of mimicking Axel's... er... "warpaint," and going to school like that. I WOULD go to school in Kairi's dress if I owned it, but that's just because I think it's beautiful and a really cool design.
Subtle or original ways of showing your love for a character, also, I would consider totally acceptable.
But... unacceptable is, last year the anime club at my school decided that it would have a cosplay day one kid came in with his greasy, unshowered hair spray-dyed white, and thought he was the shizit cuz he supposedly looked like some guy from Xennosaga... (The poor kid also got picked on ALL DAY... I can't fathom how he wouldn't foresee that... it's high school for god's sake...)
To make another point in the same vein, but stray from the main debate a bit: Same kid, he's also the type that values Japanese culture more then any other, and refuses to the the problems with it. Because indeed it's a fascinating culture, I love Japan, I study Japanese, etc. But to not see it's downfalls and to look at it like the be-all-end-all of cool just because of anime... Anyone HAS to admit that any place where you can find vending machines which contain USED women's panties has some issues... And for one to wish that they are japanese is too extream.
So yeah. Any thoughts?

iv never been too fond of of cosplay altogether...i think its best to leave the anime in well, the anime, and not ruin it by going WAY out of your way to fuck the character up [even though they most likely can't get much worst, but nevertheless...they find a way]
my friend is obsessed with cosplay and is even nicknamed 'tachie' bcuz she is crazy about him alone....shes even considering getting those contacts >.<

I've never seen Naruto, and don't plan to. I agree with the fact that people are allowed to like whatever they want, but some do take it to far. Yeah, I like anime. Deathnote, Fruits Baskets, etc. Still, not many people like anime where I live (I live in England, see, and no one really knows about it around here, or at least where I am XD) and I always feel awkward when I bring it up, as though people will see me like that.
I've never cosplayed either, though the idea of spending $250 (£130 or so) on contacts seems pretty insane to me. I mean, seriously. And the fact that there ARE people older than 18 actually doing it is even more frightening D:

The one convention I went to nearly EVERYONE was dressed as Naruto. Though honestly, if that's what they're into then they can have at it, they aren't hurting anyone though Naruto isn't really my thing at all
