Description
Assalaamu alaikum [peace be to you],I got the idea to make this drawing after I saw this [link]
here, I'd like to share this article with you. it's not written by a Muslim, that's why the prophet Mohammed -peace be upon him- is not addressed with the respectful expression "peace be upon him". but I think this article would be interesting for my non-Muslims friends that's why I am sharing it:
In a Gainesville Sun article of August 26, Pastor Terry Jones stated that he has never read the Quran he will burn. Speaking as a Christian pastor, a college instructor, and a patriotic American, I find this unfortunate.
Muslims make up 20 percent of the world's population. In today's world, gaining a basic knowledge of Islam is both good common sense and an act of responsible citizenship.
So let's say you're a non-Muslim and you've decided to open that Quran before reaching for the lighter fluid. What now?
Be sure to read a modern translation.
I'd recommend "The Qur'an: A New Translation," by M. A. S. Abdel Haleem (Oxford World's Classics, 2004). It's inexpensive and packed with helpful footnotes.
Adjust your expectations.
Unlike the Christian Bible, the Quran doesn't begin with Creation and end with the Last Judgment. Instead, the Quran contains a series of spiritual messages which comment on, and offer guidance for, situations in the life of Muhammad.
Bible-readers should expect the Quran to look rather like a book of prophecy; in which God comments on ancient politics and offers guidance to leaders like Isaiah and Jeremiah.
Non-Bible readers might find an analogy in '60s protest music! For example, the Neil Young song "Ohio" comments on the Kent State shootings of 1970, and offers guidance to American youth. In both biblical books of prophecy and '60s protest songs, current events are often alluded to indirectly rather than described in detail. It's the same with the Quran: Its messages comment on situations which are often only hinted at.
Use a biography of Muhammad.
Since the messages in the Quran comment on very specific situations, understanding these is essential to understanding the Quran. So along with that up-to-date Quran translation, get a recent biography of Muhammad...
Jews and Christians may find parallels between Muhammad and Israel's King David. Both grew up as shepherds and later became remarkable leaders of their people: religious, political, military.
Start reading at the back of the book.
Now that you've got a biography of Muhammad handy, you're ready for the Quran. Start at page one? Hardly.
The chapters in the Quran aren't laid out chronologically. Instead, the chapters are arranged by length: Longest to shortest.
Bible-readers might be reminded of the letters of St. Paul. In the New Testament, Paul's letter to the Romans comes first. That's not because Paul wrote it first, but simply because it's his longest letter. The Quran works the same way.
The first messages Muhammad shared with the world were very short. So as a rule, you'll find the earliest, simplest messages at the back of the Quran, not the front!
Get to know your Muslim neighbors.
The Quran isn't just words on a page, it shapes people's lives. Find out how by checking out local interfaith groups like the Silk Road Club... The club sponsors panel discussions with Jewish, Christian and Muslim speakers, and family-oriented events like a picnic.
A basic knowledge of Islam and the Quran can illuminate past history, current events and what the future may hold. Looks like reading a Quran produces more light than burning one.
Goodness gracious, great balls of fire!

Wassalaamu alaikum.

I don't think that the words of Buddah is the problem, is what he belived that was a problem,...
But I'm not expert in buddhism, I suppose you are. Can you describe me what is it that makes Buddah so special for you?

Buddha´s words guide you in life, he had answers for everything.
He was open to other faiths and said nothing is correct or wrong faith.
we shall learn by these wise words:
“Teach this triple truth to all: A generous heart, kind speech, and a life of service and compassion are the things which renew humanity.”
“Work out your own salvation. Do not depend on others.”
When a man asked : "Does god exist?" he answered:
“Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.”
but he also said:
“Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”
He also said very wise thing about knowledge of religion:
“However many holy words you read,However many you speak,What good will they do you If you do not act on upon them?”
I am no expert. but Buddha said do not blame high saints or deity's or gods for all go wrong, or all go good. Thank yourself and people around you. Do not act kind based on words, act kind based on humanity good.

Buddha is not to be worshiped, but be honored. This is why some build temples his honor. Buddha never said no to it, but never said yes. I honor him on special day called Buddha´s day , all found here : [link]
You can have shrine in home for Buddha, statues light scents. Never ask Buddha for favors, never demand favors from spirits. Only thank Buddha when all go well. It is way for you to thank yourself. Also Namaste is good way honor somebody by saying.
[link] Best way find out off Japanese Buddhism. Zen as we follow. Shinto and Buddhism go hand and hand.

Now about these statues, what do they relate to Buddah? And second, who's the spirits?

Statues are small often made in wood, Thai make them in fake gold or gold.
Some are in stone, carved by monks. It depend.
All of them show different part of life, before or after he become enlighten. Or "awake".
If look ,you see common Japanese one, also common is chubby laughing Buddha.
Spirits are once of ancestors or spirits , some spirits call Kami in Shinto faith.
I also like Jizo : [link] famous spirit is Kistune . A white fox blue flames. Some just white fox.

Three Facts about Islam that should make the hair on the back of your head stand up
One – The Qur’an in contrast to the Bible, is not a collection of books from various authors over a period of approximately 1,500 years, but rather a SINGLE book written by ONE man. There are no allegories, symbolism or parables to prove a point, but rather direct commands. Some have argued apparent contradictions in the Bible, that are usually explained by theological arguments or dicephered by other more clear passages in the Bible, not so with the Qur’an. The contradictions in the Qur’an are explained by the newer writing superceding the old, but quite differently from the Bible’s Old and New Testaments, which move society from an “eye for and eye” to the Age of Grace and redemption and from harsh to more tolerant. The Qur’an is quite the opposite. The “peace and love” passages are found in the older texts and are now superceded by the new more extreme and intolerant texts.
Two – Islam is not merely another religion but a whole ideological system that seeks to govern every single aspect of society beyond the spiritual aspect: political, social, communal and economic. It is the duty of every Muslim to work towards instituting Sharia law to ALL governments. It is an effective tool for the ruling classes to govern the people and bring them under totalitarian control.
Three – Islam teaches adherents are to use deception in the implementation of Sharia law and as necessary to convert and/or subdue it’s enemies. Deception is accepted as a form of gaining an upper hand over infidels.

lovely drawing and message. i can't believe people actually think that about our peaceful religion.
i just want to clarify that "the chapters are arranged by length: Longest to shortest." is not true especially since Al-Fatiha, the first soora (chapter) of the Quraan, is a short one.
"The first messages Muhammad shared with the world were very short. So as a rule, you'll find the earliest, simplest messages at the back of the Quran, not the front!" The Quraan is filled with messages all over, but I think he means the short sooras (or chapters) are in the end.

It's only a deterrent to prevent people from doing it in public and spreading what Islam considers a sever transgression on morality .. still people can do whatever they want inside their homes ... and there is no mention of killing someone just becasue he/she is a homosexual.

what do you mean? .. he did quote the Quran and Sunna of Islam .. where exactly did i say he didn't quote them .. i was explaining the meaning of what he quoted .. that's all.
Fact is in most Muslim countries there is a small percentage of homosexuals (even countries that apply sharia law) .. they exist and all and live normally as long as they don't do "it" in public or boast about their homosexuality everywhere and in public .. Islam is very strict about this issue .. but the punishment is only there for those who get caught in the act and in public.

True true. So many people go by what they hear in the media and using online sources supported by quotes from the Qu'ran to criticise Islam but if you ask them to read the Qu'ran, they won't do it. Kind of silly that they use quotes from the Holy Book without reading it front to back. One of my ex-friends was incredibly angry at me for turning to Islam and cited all of these reasons why it was bad. Her sources being online pages with quotations and sections of the 'Skeptic's Annotated Qu'ran.' Clearly that would be a biased source. Completely unwilling to read the actual Qu'ran which hasn't been tainted with other notes.
On the art note, it's brilliantly done as always. It's clean, it's tidy and the dialouge is good. ^^

Yeah, kind of. I was trying very much to make peace with her and to actually look past religous beliefs but she didn't want to listen. It's kind of sad but if she is unwilling to look past religion and is unable to tolerate other views and willing to throw away a perfectly good friendship then I won't bother. She was/is so angry about it for no reason I can see.

Having a friend who keeps on like that, is not worth having a friend, but it's also important to keep in mind that forgivenes is aboslute. If you forgive her, but she still reject to talk to you, then you don't need to do anything else, because Allah is All Aware, and he knows what you did was right
So try to be friendly with her, no matter how unfriendly she can be
Allah love those who's full of just and forgiving ^__^

There are a lot of spiritual and moral message also in the Bible, too. I used to be Roman Catholic, that's because I , now I don't believe any more in God, but I still think that the Bible is full of wise teachings also for those who doesn't believe. For example, also Japanese people read it a lot, even if their most popular religion is another one. I think the same with Korano, which is very similar to the Bible. Sometimes I think that Muhammad and Jesus can be considered kind of collegues!
By the way, don't take so much seriously the words of extremists. I have heard sometimes that the same protestants in America are saying that also Catholics are like "the worst ones" of the Christians. I myself, when I have been to a chat time ago, they were all like saying "how is like being Catholic"...oh well, I think it's a bit stupid question, 'cause it seems to me just the same at least. XD
Anyway, again, christians bigots who say stupid things are everywhere. It doesn't mean that if the bigot priest says that, the whole religious community think the same. I think that priest is a bit ignorant, and normally, ignorant people are those who talk much more like the others. lol
