Description
Assalaamu alaikum [Peace be to you]some of you, non-muslims, might have noticed that when I talk about doing something in the future, I always add "in sha'Allah", so today I'd like to talk a little about it.
When a person wishes to plan for the future, when he promises, when he makes resolutions, and when he makes a pledge, he makes them with permission and the will of Allah[God]. For this reason, a Muslim uses the Qur'anic instructions by saying "In Sha'Allah." The meaning of this statement is: "If Allah wills." Muslims are to strive hard and to put their trusts with Allah. They do their best and leave the results in the hands of Allah.
In fact, There are very few Muslims who actually say they intend to do something without adding "In sha'Allah" before or after their statement. However, one must wonder in such materialistic and secular societies, how many professing Christians actually follow the commandments of the Bible? How many actually say "if the Lord wills" when they proclaim their intentions. The little book of James* is the testimony to such a God-conscious trait of true believers. Saying "if God wills" is not only the whispering of the lips, but it is a statement that also speaks volumes of the purity of heart and the ever-remembrance of the Almighty Creator, Lord of the Worlds.
* The Epistle of James, usually referred to simply as James, is a book in the New Testament.
-13- Go to now, ye that say, today or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: -14- Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. -15- For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. -16- But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. -17- Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
James 4:13-17
And do not say of anything: ‘Surely I will do it tomorrow’, Except [when adding], 'If Allah wills' - And remember your Lord when you forget [to say it] and say, 'Perhaps my Lord will guide me to what is nearer than this to Right Conduct'
The holy Qur'an - translation of [18:23-24]
from wisdomtoislam.com with a little change...
as you can see, we're not very different. if we look at what's common between us, we'll find that we are very close.
so dear believers in God, remember God when you plan to do something, and God will help you achieve it, if it's beneficial for you and others of course. ^_^
peace be to you

Assalaamu alaikum,
i've been wondering, when we say we gonna do something, but we are talking to non-muslims, can we also said "In sha'Allah"?
... now tht i voiced it out, seems like it's fine if we say it, since Allah is all creatures' God.
am i right? O.O
but what of Alhamdulillah? when a non-muslim do something good for us, can we say Alhamdulillah in front of them?

yes.

When a Muslim does something good to us, we don't say 'Alhamdulillah", we say "Jazaakum Allaahu Khayran" (may Allah reward you good).
as for saying it to non-Muslim, I am sorry I don't know. you better ask an imam or scholar about it.

you know... You're awesome. I hear so much bullshit about Islam all the time and then I see my fellow hristians act like royal douchebags and wonder what makes us so much better. It's nice to se someone on the other side of the fence, so to speak, be reasonable and peacefull. It restores my hope that humanity actually have some redeeming qualities.

I love how it's a joke, that the little boy will go to school if God wills it xD I think that is a great way to explain the message and it's super cute to see the happy family Very beautiful coloring as well, the background is great and their hair is very well done.

"Insya Allah" is a great words... Insya Allah means with God willing, coz we cant do anything in our life without it... sometimes we uesd "Insya Allah" for the postponed promise, may coz we cant do it now and we promise to do it soon... and we must do it... it is a great commitment if people perceive the power behind it
thank you nayzak

I really like your drawing
Sadly, here in my place -where most people are Muslims- people treat those who put "Insya Allah" in their promises as ones that would likely to break it.
Ironically, that opinion is formed because most of those who say "Insya Allah" DO break their promises.
Well, I won't blame my people for thinking that way, since I've been disappointed by those-who-think-"Insya Allah"-is-just-mere-words as well, so many times....
May Allah guide them to the right way...

Alhamdulillah!
Thanks, Nayzak for reminding me with this art!
Nowadays I almost forgetting to saying "Insya Allah" when I promising something, because when I was saying "Insya Allah" I felt like "justifying" for my laziness or broking promises.
May Allah forgiving my mistakes and giving strength to always saying "Insya Allah" when I promising something without breaking it.

Do you mind if I ask: when one is speaking English or French, or any other language than Arabic, do they say it in Arabic or in their language?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Nayzak In reply to lamarce [2011-02-05 05:29:53 +0000 UTC]
everyone can say it in their language. what's important is the meaning behind it and understanding why someone is saying it. ^_^
but some muslims prefer to say it in Arabic. same as "Assalaamu alaikum" which means "peace be to you"...
