A guide on how to make a plush friendly My Little Pony OC.
I wanted to make this guide to give people an idea on what elements of an MLP oc can be difficult or impossible to plush. When designing an OC, or wanting to get one made as a plush, there are things to avoid or minimise.
This guide is based on personal experience and not all information may be true for every plush maker.

However, what if we can't draw our OC in the same style as the show? Do we still try to commission even though the
reference images aren't in the same style as the show?

I think even if you can use a base. Or try drawing with no shading/blending of colours, I find that's the most important thing.

Yes, I've done several OC commissions with non-canon art style references. Sometimes I'll do a rough sketch of what the final product might look like.
Another idea would be to take a Pony Maker program, like General Zoi's, just to get the outlines. There'd be nothing to stop you taking a pony body base and drawing the manes and tails on the way you want them to look for us, simply for reference purposes

Good guide to just general making of OCs, plushified or not! I really need to sort out a look for my Pony's hair, atm i just do it all messy and no one on earth would be able to plushify it!

I totally know what you mean. I know some awesome ocs with messy/anime style hair. It looks great but man is it hard to plush

Sadly my favorite OC is probably not as plush-friendly as my others are.
At least she has a normal Body shape and a maximum of 5 colours
But sadly she has a yellow mane with brown stripes and body patterns of an appaloosa (not too many tho)
AND HER CUTIE MARK...Its freakin TRANSPARENT XD
Tho I would make an ALTERNATE CM for her just to make her more plush-friendly.

Good guide! I am one who can say she is absolutely true when it comes to price increases. I have 3 plushies of my oc, one was a gift and it did cost my friend extra to make due to the hooves and wings. Another was a contest prize and the hooves were considered a challange. I did love how the wing tips were airbrushed to meet the color that they are that was one nifty trick. The final plush was a 3 parter. My oc was the most expensive due to hooves n wings heck one oc was cheaper and had assesories added. So yes the more exotic your oc is expect to pay more. They are charging you extra for many reasons discribed in this guide.
