A guide on how to make a plush friendly My Little Pony OC.
I wanted to make this guide to give people an idea on what elements of an MLP oc can be difficult or impossible to plush. When designing an OC, or wanting to get one made as a plush, there are things to avoid or minimise.
This guide is based on personal experience and not all information may be true for every plush maker.

I have a problem with this. I totally understand the points for canceling to do a plush because of the different hard things or impossible things. But it sounds like you have to change your OC when you wanna have a plushy instead of creating just a plush-related oc.
It sounds like OC's wouldn' t have any meaning but there is always a reason for the person for his own oc xD
I don't know if you understand what I mean but sometimes this thing here sounds weird to me, logical but sometimes wrong

I'm struggling to understand what you mean. I just want to help people understand that having an OC with difficult elements will make it harder/more expensive to plush. Not to make an OC /just/ to make it into a plush.

annnd this is why i state that if someone make my pony frost burst into plush style they dont have to use her gradients because its actually meant for art wise only xDD unless they wanna use it like this or watever xD

haha oh yes i do wish the same xD, because as an artist, i too understand how these designs are really time consuming, whether its spots, patches, stripes, gradient etc etc it takes more time than usual to just get it 'right' without having to make a 'do over' but its even more harder for an plush artist cause once its done, oh its done xDD; i envy your skills to get it just right dear <3 and this is really helpful to those who make pony oc's with those type of designs u @; -praises- ♥

A good read. Most if not all of this can be taken into consideration even if one doesn't wish to get a plush done of their character.

Awesome guide Naz! I'm sure this will help ou as well as other plush makers! I know I'm guilty of fluffy hooves, but I figured stallions would have them. I like how you would prefer a reference sheet because you're making a 3D object, it's best to know it from all sides. I made a complicated cutie mark before too... Then eventually revised it to a simpler design that looked much better than what I had.
I bet future commissioners for other plushies will take this into consideration now. Great job!

I think we all have our guilty pleasures XD. Most of my OCs have a gradient or weird body pattern etc XD.

Lol. True. But your OCs look great! At least they're not walking rainbows (bodies with a lot of color and mane). Lol I can imagine that would be a nightmare. For the most part, for my 2 OCs, I have the hooves one color, body one color, and I try to stick to 1-2 colors for hair. It makes it easier for me as well. I gotta remember how to draw it otherwise. Lol

I'm very slightly guilty of this(oversized wings), But I did take it in to account when I first made my OC, well before I ever considered getting him plushed.

Duuurrrr, is mine plush friendly?
JK. Hahaha. I got quotes on Ivory and Crescent for shits and giggles from Fireflyetwinkletoes. Crescent is over $500 cause huge mane and tail. Ivory was around...$250 or $300? Such is the price we pay for intricate OC's!! Great guide. Maybe we'll start seeing more...normal OC's xD
Normal is not a bad thing, guys!!

I totally agree with this. People do not realize that some of these features that do not take very long to draw, take a really long time to plush.

Honestly this is a great guide for pony OCs in general xD I know I cringe at some excessive designs, since OC ponies very easily start to fall under "sparkledog" category.

Very well thought out! Tells me that my OC is somewhat out of range for a plush! (two tone Spitfire like mane and tail, cutie mark with a cloud hammer and wrench....complex....colors are not too bad.. Dark Green, Black, Red...but oversize wings...Would probably have them folded at his sides......I can dream though......) Neat work!

Haha I don't think any oc is out of range if someone has deep enough pockets XD
