this has helped me understand why I take so long on the legs (I did not make objects for them there for I needed to redo a LOT.) oh that is quite subtle that you did not mention you can erase some of the hair color to add a "shine" effect.
clearly wrighten tutorial.
I would recommend adding "techture" lines (this involes adding little grass blades on the ground, curvy lines on the trees and the same (but straighter) for the bark)
(this comes from the fact when i was your age I drew a lot of buildings/plants(mostly trees)/mountains/machines/maps even, in fact it is only recently i disided to do "organics" (animals/humans/hybrid) so your own knowledge in the matter is good to see (tutorials done by experts tend to assume you already know the basics...I do not))

I think it's funny. While all styles originate from the show-style, the show-style originates from realistic horse anatomy and a bit of human psychology.
