Description

When I first started flash animation 10years ago, I always did my animation using motion tweening. I had being doing this way for almost 6years of my animation experience. only 4years ago or so, I soon start to discover other technics to incorporate into my self-learnt animation skills.

Now a days, I rarely animate my characters using motion tween now, its now done in a frame by frame method, but still using the basic fundamentals of the motion tweening of symbols. I still don't have to keep drawing the entire thing, but certain elements and just reposition the symbols to the new pose of the characters in a frame by frame way, instead of motion tweening everything.

you can see in my video I've prepared showing how I animate my animations

using this technic, it gives my animation having the frame by frame style (to a degree) but yet still done in the symbol/motion tweening technic that will be done in a short time span

Have you ever seen in You Tube. I like even this video now.It was egg conveyance subject of videos.
When in Japan version to clear the 4G, it queries that crimson Fatalis birth comes out.
(You Tubeで見た事があります。この動画いまでも好きです。卵運搬のですね。日本版では4Gのをクリアすると、紅龍生誕と言うクエが出るのです.)

By the way if there's is Is there a limit of? It was a helluva unpopular in Japan.
(ところでそちらのは極限化ってあるのですか?日本ではえらい不評でした。)

erm, you're refering to the "extreme" modes of the monster? in english game here, it is "Apex" mode and yeah, I dun like that myself.

I indeed do that Apexmode .... In MHX of Japan ferocity of coming out on high lank quest. The ferocity of the monster, apparently not tired anyway. ... And this ferocity of material I is required in the final strengthening of any and all weapons and armor. They will do become hungry even Evil. Anyway limit of It was also unpopular even ferocity of.
Two name seems also quest is often not a not a story to go with four people. Is there is that Do not bring items.

What it has been translated correctly anxiety because it uses Google translation.(Google翻訳使ってるので正しく訳されてるのか不安です。)

Pretty darn cool indeed. I´m universed away from your epic styled but tbh. I´ve selftaughted myself do animate frame by frame. But NOT with flash. QAQ It´s still quite a closed book for me. I really need to take the time to go through some tutorials....

Anyways, it´s a great insight here from you.

Oh, puppeteering animation. It takes a lot ot time to master but god does it look good when done properly.
My sir, you're a very talented person! You make me wanna start practising with my animations once again- too bad I don't have the time.
Great job, and keep making these beautiful pieces of art~

...are you just going for the double/tripleframe look? Because it would only take 30 more seconds to create tweens and double the framerate, so maybe you should explain WHY you make it choppier when it would be just as easy to make it smooth.

EDIT: Now I see you mention below that it's to save time and to work around a flash glitch

NCH85 In reply to Heart0fTheStorm [2015-05-30 00:06:27 +0000 UTC]

the point of making it choppier is to simulate the "frame by frame" feel to a certain degree.
it dosent totally make the animation look like its done frame by frame, but it will make it look like it wasnt motion tween obnoxiously.

depending on the style you are going for,I just didn't want my characters to have that really motion tween'd look to it and wanted to deliberate make the actions choppy

so I just avoid tweening fully. the speed of animating it using this technic maybe slower than just tweening everything, but I find that I have more control when I do it frame by frame, its still, faster than drawing it frame by frame fully in the end.

Alright good clarification. I'm still trying to figure out which one I prefer for my own style so I'll just keep experimenting.

it something like this that reminds you that the characters in a flash aren't one thing but amass of different parts to make one person

I don't do much animation, but this is a technique I use. It's something I borrowed from my experience in creating sprite animations.

Looks really good! I'm also self-taught in animation. I use tweening a lot. But what I do with the layers of characters is that I redraw parts a lot of times to change position, along with tweening.( For example, animating a character throwing its arm up and making a fist) But to avoid having problems, I put an un-symbolized version of a redrawn layer's keyframe in between the tweens of the original and redrawn version. That was my way of animating. But I realize that this process is very time consuming, so I was thinking of some different ways to animate faster or more efficiently, Like, one one method i could think of being drawing one pose on one frame, another pose on another frame and then working the motion in between, or possibly, your method. I really like it when people share their method of doing things like that, because that way we could share our methods and exchange ideas over it. Anyway, good job! I should practice more often...

the irony of this situation is that in later newer versions of flash, they sorta fixed that bug or glitch? but I got so used to that auto switching thing that I realise I cant fix issues just by changing the first frame of the animation, doing a tween to change/fix al the keyframes as the glitch was fixed and I had to edit every keyframe manually.

and thats why till this day, I still use macromedia flash 8 to animate my animations.....

I use Macromedia Flash 8, too! And also, how do you make your animated preview images and user icons? I see them a lot and I'd like to know how to do that.

just upload a 150X150 gif for the preview to get animated thumbnails

NCH85 In reply to MrMegaMattX [2015-05-29 15:54:36 +0000 UTC]

what you mention is the same thing I experience. I usually just make a new layer above and copy the keyframes and continue on from there and switch out to a diff frame etc.

but basically, this technic evolved after I knowing that this issue is caused solely by motion tweening of the keyframes, so I start to elimate motion tween and tried to animate it frame by frame style but still keeping the motiontween technic.

soon it turns out that I have more control on my animation and I can switch frame numbers on the fly on any area I wanted, theres some drawbacks of course when you want to fix or correct something, but yeah, its all about just keep on animating and learning from the mistakes and improvements you encounter.

The difference is really noticeable I think! Animators take a certain pride in their method, whether it's traditional vs motion capture, and tweeting vs frames. Thanks for sharing!

it more or less a technic that saves me time in the animation process, as I tend to want to animate out the idea inside instead of the beauty of it. so I tend to find ways to hasten my animation processes.

its more of less depending on the situation I guess. sometimes I still just fully motion tween my animations for some freelance work.

i wouldnt see the difference in your videos~ maybe that is the magic behind it~ btw... im so happy.. so many artists take their time to scrible with their fans(like me) thats fascinating, totally different from youtube~
