the cloaking effect has been on my mind since 4 years ago. with the basic theory of using masking tools to achieve the effectbut it was stopped by the one fact that flash cannot support more than one symbols in a mask layer to mask properly
now, only recently, I finally uncover the hidden technic in masking and from there implemented my cloaking effect theory to it.
if i get enough intrest in people wanting to know how i do it, i may do a video tutorial of it
and yes, meow meow meow meow, I thought i be random a bit to the demo

Make a duplicate image of your background larger/smaller from, and then mask it with the your character you have running by the screen. Right?
Its the same effect we stick animators use now a days for creating a ripple (bullet slow-mo ripple)
Dunnoe if that's your exact method, but I'm curious if your method is done the same way.

almost the sameway, but theres a setback that you cannot do a proper masking when u are using a graphic symbol with multi symbols inside it.

I'm aware, i tend not to use but one symbol when doing the effect though.
Hmm...have you tried placing the graphic symbol within another symbol?
Hard to explain. But if done right, you'll be able to get masking layer to think the symbol is just one symbol (not multiples) And you can get the effect to work properly.
But anyway, Good job though with the effect! looking forward to seeing more of your stuff
