This little guy was worked on this week at Hap's (local taxidermist where I've been learning).Β Really pretty little guy... I call him the dalmatian deer because of his little speckles. ΒRelated content

I've got a 90% white doe cape in the freezer that I'm going to get to soon, beautiful animals.Β I've done pied otter and a pied peacock as well, pied rock.

I was SO lucky to get that otter, it was rotting in this guy's freezer.Β they guy was friends with my tanner and when the tanner saw how many piebald animals I was sending him he told me about the otter.Β Guy sold it to me for 300$...which is down right criminally low.Β However it came with the knowlage that I may not be mountable.Β It was already half mounted in the freezer, I had to soak it off the form it was on.

Wow that is lucky! Glad it turned out to be mountable and you were able to save him, beautiful animal I don't know how someone could just leave it to rot in the freezer half mounted... He could've made a fortune off it if he finished it... Oh well, his loss if your gain

Honestly he wasn't doing a good job at it and he knew that. Β What he didn't know when he caught the thing was what it was worth. He was a trapper not a taxidermist.Β

What method do you guys use for cleaning/drying fur?

cleaning we soak them in dawn for a while, time depends on the species and drying we have air blowers and use that to dry along with brushing with a dog slicker brush.

I need one of those air blowers.Β I'm wasting my life with a hair drier set on 'cool'.Β
