I wanted to have a swing at it before the bandwagon eventually careens off a cliff. Was fun! Totally based on Kan’s rendition , because the best way to develop one’s style is to butcher others’, amirite?

I do see why Bowsette went so popular though.
It’s basically because after so many games of Mario franchise we actually manage to develop a deeper relationship with Bowser than that cliche placeholder princess Peach (actually this seems like a little bit mean way to describe peach but anyways you get it). The classic sense of rivalry between Mario and Bowser and the many interesting traits Bowser has shown throughout the series had far surpassed the likes of princess Peach and sometimes even Mario and Luigi. Pretty much the only thing that prevents people from loving Bowser (not mentioning a lot of people love Bowser already) is the fact that he is a big fat turtle-dragon guy and a relatively typical antagonist.
And then boom, here you have Bowsette, a princess Bowser with that interesting personality and sense of rivalry. It actually adds a lot of meaning to Mario Series and pretty much make up for one of the most interesting characters in Mario franchise.
This actually happens pretty commonly, as a lot of times an already potentially popular character of a franchise get a new best trait or a bad trait removed suddenly receives huge popularity. The case of Bowsette is just that everyone knows Mario Series so the impact is easily widespread.
