She didn't start the war. The yak-hulks did. They were all "We be friends or we go to war" as if politics are actually that black and white. Not to mention they were inconsiderate jerks who apparently didn't care about anyone's impressions of them... Honestly, I feel like they probably have wars a lot. Just sayin'.
Oh, and the yaks declared war with their leader in the middle of Equestrian territory? That's asking for trouble.

The princeses seem to share equal status as far as we know, looking at the last episodes. Twilight has been getting into more duties as a ruler, and the Crystal Empire is apparently part of the land of Equestria as it was in the Equestrian Summit. So I'd say tetrarchy seems appropriate.
I don't think making a distinction on the Princesses is accurate since the show clearly treats them as a four pony group working together for Equestria.

I didn't like how Twilight was such a pushover with the yaks in this episode. Not once does she tell them to stop, as they destroy her palace and domain. Although I do like the yaks. I'm happy whenever a new species is introduced. And Pinkie was portrayed in a way like this episode; fun with enough sense to be serious. Alnd I like the idea of Pinkie being so organized with the stuff in the basement of Sugarcube Corner.

Yeah, at one point I was kind of hoping Twilight would snap and put the fear of Faust in those yaks.
