I love dragons! Aw, Dannys baby I love your rendition! Wow, you really got that serpentine look described in the books and the scales and blood vessels are all so incredibly well done!
From what I understand GRRM thought of them having 4 limbs rather than 6 since all other flying animals have 4 BUT this is just sooooooo gooood! It feels like it came right out of a medieval illustration and given new life! Besides the way you formed the limbs all make visual sense and Β woooooow it's all so wonderful! I could go on and on about the possibilities of dragon biology and all sorts of folklore and history but ohmygosh I don't want to waste your time with endless rambling and theory

Technically the dragons in Ice and fire would be wyverns. Correct?
I think that the 4 limbed ones are more "biologically correct" but the 6 limbed dragons look cooler.
But hey...it's fantasy. Let's just have fun!

Yep! In heraldry a dragon has 6 and a wyvern has 4.Β
As a kid I always imagined a six limbed dragon but as I got older it was harder to make sense of it in a drawing. I remember having the dragonology book (wow, those ology books used to be really popular...) and from that I came to the conclusion a wyvern is a type of dragon, it made/makes sense to me. If I had the time I'd love to play around with mythological physiology! It's really hard to get the muscles and anatomy to work with the six limbs in a believable fashion but you did an amazing job with it!
The best thing about drawing fantasy is that you can make them real, even if it's only for a moment!
