This is absolutely stunning! I can't believe the intricate detailing you achieved using chocolate ...then again, I don't usually have the patience to play with my dessert

Again, very nice work

I wouldn't call it playing, and you wouldn't either if you were up to your eldows in chocolate. Although I do admit that women do like it when I come around smelling like chocolate.

You're right: being up to your elbows in chocolate isn't called playing, it's called Heaven

I never understood the whole perfume/cologne market. Many women do love the smell of chocolate, just like many men love the smell of bbq or that new car smell. If they made perfumes with the scents that really attracted the opposite sex, I imagine that'd be an incredibly profitable market. ...but that's just me

It can be awkward at times. My roommate's friends used to smell my clother when I got home from work because they liked how I smelled like Chocolate Chip Cookies. I swear that a woman hit on me at a bar once because I smelled like chocolate. And in case you are wondering, you can't wash off that smell unless you use one of those flowery body washes, so it's either smell like chocolate, or smell like a a bottle of purfume.

Talk about hazardous working conditions...

Have you tried Febreeze? I had a roommate who smoked but she Febreezed every time she came in the room and wasn't nearly as smelly.

Nah, the smell permiates the skin. When I get chocolate on my hands, the chocolate smell lingers for hours even if I wash my hands. I know I know, most people would be like, "So what's the big problem?"

If that were me, the big problem would be constantly smelling it. For the first week or so, I'd probably crave and indulge in chocolate like crazy. After that, I'd be so sick of it I wouldn't want to see it again--much less smell it.

To answer your question Akai-ink, I learned how to carve chocolate when I apprenticed under a Master Pastry Chef from Austria.

That is brilliant!!! I bow down to you.
I think I saw something about chocolate carving on Iron Chef, or a show like that.
All that hard work definitely paid off. Two and a half weeks? Wow! If I worked on something that long I'd hate to let it go

To answer all your questions, I was asked if I was interested in entering a chocolate carving competition. All the pieces would be sold in a silent auction, and proceeds to go to charity. Although the competition took place on Valentine's day, there was no theme. The only criteria was that it had to be made out of chocolate.

It took me about two and a half weeks to carve. The hardest part was the head because of all the details, and it sold a little over for $17,000. As side note, for taking first place I won $700, but hey, it was for a good cause.
