Description Welp, I've lost my patience inking that SEAL sketch and ended up messing around with extra layers and effects which culminated into this....and I actually love it!
The rough lines gives it a chaotic look. o.o

Call in the AC-130 for CAS!!

FIX: Added IR US Flag, deleted some highlights and augmented some contrasts

IΒ never saidΒ anything about standard issue, I just said they issue it. I also stated that I'm not as familiar withΒ present day military operations, didn't say I don't know anything about them.

I thought it was the ACR but didn't want toΒ say it and look the fool. I couldn't remember off the top of my headΒ if theΒ D-boys carried 1911's at Mogdishu,Β it's been a while since I've read Black Hawk Down.Β Each 1911 at the time had been overhauled at least three times. 9mm actually has excellent stopping power IF the correct propellant is used. The US Army uses ball powder which boosts the bullet's speed way up. It also caused a lot of problems with the M16 when it was firstΒ introduced back in Vietnam.

The last time I checked, the 6.8 suffered from PDW "(P)opgun (D)evoid of (W)hoopass" They thought a short carbine could effective utilized the round, they're finding out they need a barrel up to 18 inches long.Β  The ammo and weapon has not been optimized, not even the chamber print. In fact they're saying it was rushed into service way too soon and there was no set FPS or chamber pressure from one maker to the next. They also have has alot of magazine problems because the magazine needs to be made to a certian thickness and such, although it fits well into the overAR15/M16/M4 design.

Hmm, I never heard of the 6.8 SPC round having any troubles. In fact all I have ever praise for the round. Though there is likely some 'teething' problems with the development. Most of what the studies I have seen claim the 6.8 to have superior ballistics compared to the 5.56 and 7.62x39. I'll try to find them again if you want.

As for the magazines, they can use most standard 5.56 mags and seem to feed and function fine. though it is best if you sand down the follower a bit to accommodate the Β 6.8 SPC 's larger size. The other problem is they lessen your round count by about 5 round depending on the mag.

While learning how to drive, I was told Day time and Night time driving are almost two different worlds. I wonder if the same applies between day and night combat?

Shooting at night blinds you and combat takes place at really close range.

Makes sense. I remember a video of Greatest Tank Battles of one of the wars between Israel and Egypt. There was a night skirmish where the Israeli tanks would flash their head lights on/off to spot the enemy tanks and then shoot where they approximately were.

It's hard to fire machine-guns at night as you can't see what you are shooting at.

Just another lovely day in the neighborhood, just another lovely day in the neighborhood.
Will you be mine? From a landmine?
The AC130 sweeps right in, causing much of a din.
Will you be mine? From a landmine?
We are moving up the street, empty mags falling to my feet.
Will you be mine? From a landmine?
The object is so near, click whats that? Oh dear!
Will you be mine? From a landmine?

Lol, hope you enjoy my little random made up song
Anyways, great job here ND

Figured out that showing the expression showed how tense it was to have rounds flying everywhere, perhaps I'd just do a standalone sketch with it later on. XD

Hopefully CAS has arrived and will clear it away~
Aye, having it sketchy AND blurred while keeping the character's lines clean gives it a neat field of depth.

SirRinge In reply to NDTwoFives [2014-04-05 09:32:09 +0000 UTC]

Haha, yea. That's one of the main reasons why I don't like linearting my stuff; half the time even I have no idea what the heck the lines are, they just look good xD

And yea, I see what you mean by that. Definitely stands out, and looks like it's ambient occlusion...ed. Occluded. Or... Occlusioneded. Oh, you get the point ._.

Hey the NVG feel is pretty good. First time I see someone changing mag with a shooting hand though.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NDTwoFives In reply to Lance177 [2014-04-03 15:39:06 +0000 UTC]

I've seen that animation plenty of times in video games, though I felt like doing a different reloading stance, as I always drew the "grip" hand doing it.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Lance177 In reply to NDTwoFives [2014-04-03 16:37:44 +0000 UTC]

But that will ruin your grip of your "grip" hand, not to mention there are weapons designed that mag release button (AR-15, SCAR, ARX 170 etc.) are pressed by that hand. Not to mention I don't see much of an advantage to such technique.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NDTwoFives In reply to Lance177 [2014-04-03 16:41:10 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, probably to have a more convenient access to the ammo pouches stored on the right side of the rig, as you wouldn't have to extend your left arm too much.

I still really REALLY need to do something like this again.

I once had a trad piece back in an art subject in college depicting my memories of the 1991 Persian Gulf War (particularly some green night vision TV footage of what appears to be shells flying across the sky), but never got to keep it. Dx
