I decided to create this character reference sheet for Yumi aka Polaris featuring an alternative storytelling for this character after developping an idea I had back in 2020-2021 = "what if Yumi was evil?" .... Enjoy!

Zexal I
-unlike the other Barians, Polaris decides to travel to Earth and start collecting Number cards on her own; she's also very curious so she uses her time to learn new things, like playing music – she discovers that she's pretty good at it; apparently she also learns that she loves human food – as a Barian she has no mouth, so she thinks that having one is great;
-on Earth she also helps Vector supervise Tron and Dr. Faker who were being used as tools to collect Number cards as well. Apparently she also stalks Yuma and his gang around to check on their progress and to be eintartained by them during her free time;
-when Dr. Faker's plan is revealed after the ending of the WDC and Astral is trapped inside the “cannonsphere” (???) (I dunno how it is called in English, sorry), Polaris shows herself to stop Star from trying to rescue Astral while Yuma, Shark and Kaito were dueling Dr. Faker – Polaris is also careful to hide her face from Star in her human form. Eventually Polaris and Star engaged in a duel that has no winner as the two have to retreat after Dr.Faker/Vector´s defeat.

Zexal II
-Polaris follows Vector's scheme once more and creates a clone of Vector and controls his actions for most of the time as asked by Vector;
-she introduces herself to Yuma & company by pretending to be Yuma himself – that's possible due to Polaris and Yuma sharing an identical face (and Polaris being able to style her hair just like Yuma's with lots of gel lol); eventually Polaris's face reveal leaves Star more shocked than the rest of the guys. (Fun fact: Polaris as Yuma flirts with the boy's classmates, especially girls lol); she engages in a duel against Yuma and Astral this time, only for her to lose on purpose and telling Yuma "that something terrible was coming for him" – she doesn´t use a Barian battlesphere while dueling them;
-guiding Vector´s clone, she later attacks Yuma and Astral and kidnaps Shingetsu;
-On Sargasso she shows up as Star's opponent with the hope to finish the duel that they had to quit the last time – she's a bit disappointed in Star, because the latter doesn't seem like she's focusing on the duel and she keeps telling her that she seems afraid of something;
-after Vector's defeat, she accompany him to the Barian sea and leaves him there believing that he might as well not return from such pit of acid;
-she discovers about the Mythirian Numbers by stalking Yuma & company once more and eventually she reunites briefly with Vector in episodes 101 and 102; she throws up after being in the ruins due to her starting to remember things about her past;
-she witnessed Shark/Nash's past memories in the underwater ruins as well as a glimpse of her own past memories which shows her being captured by Nash as a prisoner in the aftermath of Nash and Vector first battle;
-Polaris's Mythirian Number is N.76 Gradielle the Harmony Lumestra; it is hidden in a location which is all covered in ice and snow; however the silhoutte of a castle made of ice/glass is still recognizable among the snow;
-inside the location the group – Yuma, Astral, Kotori and Star - (Rio and Shark aren't with the others due to the incident in the underwater ruins) is separated due to the floor of ice breaking under their feet = they end up falling in the abyss of the ruins; while Kotori ends up to be rescued by Polaris who followed the guys inside the ruins, Yuma, Star and Astral find themselves facing the guardian of the Mythirian number; Star recognized him as someone that she already met in the past and insists to duel him in the place of Yuma; however Star loses to the guardian and she's crystalized in front of Yuma and Astral; the two are reached by Polaris and Kotori, the latter telling Yuma and Astral to not attack Polaris as a payback for the fact that she helped her navigating the ruins; understanding what happened to Star, Polaris gets mad at the guardian for hurting her; at this point the guardian invites both Yuma and Polaris to challenge him in order to free Star and retrieve the number card; Yuma and Polaris accept and they team up together sharing their life points; the duel appears to be a challenge especially for Polaris, since to N. 76´s effect doesn´t allow her to attack the the monster from the moment that the attribute of Polaris's monsters is light just like N. 76;
-during their duel the guardian tells them the legend of the ruins: a story of a lonely princess who wanted to avenge her twin brother's death; the princess eventually got her revenge by killing the one who she thinks was responsable for her suffrance in life only to die in the process as well; the story made question Astral if the legend was talking about Polaris and possibly Yuma as the two share an identical face and no explanation was given for such weirdness till then, but also made him wonder why Polaris was reincarnated as a Barian and separeted from Yuma if that was the case;
-during the duel Polaris also starts to feel dizzy and begins to slowly regain her past memories = she realized that the affection she felt towards Yuma and Star is due to the fact that in the past she had a twin brother who looked exactly like Yuma and that Star used to protect them and that eventually she fell in love with her, but she was rejected by Star before leaving her brother and home to become Vector's wife; Astral sees the same memories through the eyes of Polaris's lost twin brother which ends up to reveal him that a fragment of himself did attach to the guy after his battle against Don Thousand and was responsabile for his illness - Astral's fragment was slowly feeding on Polaris's twin brother life in order to heal, something that Polaris didn't know about as it was kept a secret by both Star and her brother;
-eventually Yuma and Polaris manage to defeat the guardian, revealing his identity = a remnant of Polaris's twin brother who leaves the Mythirian Number to Polaris and begs Yuma to take care of "their" sister for him; at this point Star is freed from her crystal prison and tried to approach Polaris to make her understand that Yuma or her wouldn't abandon her this time like they did in the past – Star rejected Polaris to protect her twin brother who died briefly after Polaris's departure – but Polaris rejected Star's plea and apologie, telling them that nothing didn't change at all from back then: there was no way for her to become their precious person and be loved by them as one since their hearts already belong to Astral; Polaris also remembers Star that after all she was the one who rejected her feelings back in the past; in the end Polaris abandons the ruins leaving Star to pieces and Yuma confused about the fact that he might have acquired a twin sister out of nowhere;
-during the last part of the series, she duels against both Yuma and Star to settle her score with them – the duel happens before Yuma, Astral, Kotori and Star reaches Barian world (after Alit's and Girag's death; Vector leaves to face Nash, while Polaris remains to challenge Yuma instead); during the duel Star is able to take control over N. 76 Gradielle the Harmony Lumestra and attacked Polaris´s N. 109 to unlock her true memories; despite discovering that all her hate towards Nash was due to a manipolation of Don Thousand, her anger towards Yuma and Star for abandoning her and always choosing someone else over her couldn't be that easily erased; Yuma does promise Polaris to change things with the power of the Numeron Code and made her his real twin sister as asked by the guardian of Polaris's ruins, leading the girl to tell him that he could as well erasing her with its power because 1.Yuma was doing that because it was asked him by his past self and not because he really wants Polaris by his side, 2.for Polaris leaving with the thought of knowing to be in 2nd place was too much for her; that's also the reason why she remained by Vector's side since she knew that he has never abandon her either in the past and they were both sick as hell – Polaris did also helped trapping Nash before Vector's duel against Durbe and Merag, even though her hate towards Nash wasn't as strong as her resentment towards Yuma and Star now + unlike in the past where she remained alone, Yuma and Star are there now and they are also a threat that she had to face in order for Vector to win (you can say that in Polaris´s case "history doesn´t repeat itself") – Vector did count the risk of loosing Polaris in the process but he also planned to revive her with the power of the Numeron Code in the end; from Polaris's perspective, he could have also decided to absorb her powers and kill her since nothing really matters to her in the end anymore – which is not true from Kotori's p.o.v. since Polaris is still standing up for someone aka Vector which means that she still wants to fight for something even if she is on the wrong side;
-Yuma and Star do manage to defeat Polaris just some moments before reaching Barian world only for Polaris to lose her Barian powers;
-after the defeat Polaris doesn't change her mind and when she's asked by Nash if Vector's redemption was a fake, she answered him that he was being sincere even though she knew that Vector was lying; she tried to reach for Vector before he gets absorbed by Don Thousand, but she's stopped by Star who doesn't want to lose Polaris which enrages the girl more; Yuma reaches for Vector in Polaris's place for Vector to realize that just like Polaris's never gave up on him either did Yuma;
-Polaris allows herself to forgive Yuma and Star only after Star's sacrifice against Don Thousand since Star wants 1.to punish her father for turning Polaris in a Barian Emperor and had her leaving a hell of a life due to him manipulting her memories, 2. to protect her from him since Polaris is supposed to be absorbed by Don Thousand as well and 3.wants to show Polaris that she wasn't going to abandon her with her actions since her words hadn't ever reached the girl – through her death Star does manage to reach her purpose = Polaris understands that if she was separated from Star and her brother in the past was because they wanted her to be safe and live a happy life; now in the present if she's still alive was because she truly was important to Star (and Yuma); in the end Polaris does understand that she means a lot to Star and Yuma and that she might had misunderstood their intent;
-after Nash's defeat, Polaris survives as the last Barian alive and she's sent back to what's left of Barian world; there she watches Yuma's and Astral's last duel, in her heart secretly rooting for Yuma as he wants to use the Numeron Code to bring everyone back;
-thanks to Astral, who uses the power of the Numeron Code, she becomes Yuma's twin sister at the end of the story – at this point she goes by the name Yumi and uses Polaris as a nickname.

Trivia:
-in the after canon you can decide to ship her with Star or Vector.
