Yes. That was our family's dog. He passed away from ripe old age. Please see the edit. Please know, adopt any kind of pet, cats, etc.....it's just this is personal for me because we adopted Steinbeck. I just wanted to share the love. <3
Yes, my dog's name is Steinbeck. After the American author from the Salinas valley in California, and I named him this because we adopted him at the Monterey county SPCA in the 90s (Monterey County is the county Salinas is in, and we lived in Salinas at the time..which has the Steinbeck house and later on they built a museum). He has a ton of white on his face now...like an old man, but he's still the same lovable and stubborn little guy...and he still drags my 200+pound Dad on a walk despite his age!
Edit as of 2012: Steinbeck lived to be 16 years old, and he passed on July 5, 2012. Our family enjoyed his company for about 16 years. If we had never adopted him he would have been put to sleep. He had been returned twice to the shelter because of his digging habit. He was so full of love, and my family loved him. A wonderful dog, and a lifelong friend. No one in my family will ever forget him, and we thank him for all his years of excellent companionship. This stamp will be eternally dedicated to Steinbeck.
