Very classy and beautiful. I really like the detailing and colors. The figure work and rendering of the instrument are quite good. Lovely composition.

I love the lute action. I think it's a pretty nice job with acrylics.

Wow...! I'm in a painting class right now...did you have any training? I'm 37, back to art school after raising kids and blowing it off. I was surprised to learn about mixing complimentary colors for shadows and highlights and looking at your painting I can see how wonderfully you added depth and light to your painting. Like her hair, instead of using black for the dark undertones, did you just mix the same browns from the lighter hair? I like the heavy brush work in the background, it has a nice contrast to the softer brushwork on the woman. Great job!
How long did this take you?
Was this from a photo?
Do you draw this out on the canvas first, and if so, with what kind of medium? I just wonder if people use graphite or what
When painting a dark background like that...does the background go in first or last?
lol...sorry about the 20 ?'s. I'm just trying to learn as much as I can.

hey, first of all i'm glad u like it and thank u a lot for the favs
now to your questions:
1. i used a photo and it took me about 8 hours
2. i started with a usually pencil and continued with acrylics
3. i did the background first. it was my first painting on a bigger canvas, so i did not really know what i actually did. ...
