wow ive got to say that the colors in this one are absolutely striking! great shooting! ive always wondered how i might be able to compose a panoramic shot, all attempts have failed horribly. any suggestions?

Use a tripod (i didn't here, but it's recommended), and a stitching software. I used Canon Photostitch.

ah! yes i have a tripod, but when i try and pan the camera around i end up with differently exposed shots. some darker some lighter and that just wont do at all.

Ooh, I see the problem! Do you have a slr/dslr? If so, all you have to do is to make sure you use the same exposure on all photos. For example F8, shutterspeed 1/160sek on every single photo. No Auto Mode, is what I mean. The auto mode will choose different exposures depending on where you point the camera.

ah haha i guess you are correct. so essentially you just stand there and rotate the camera until the full range of the panorama has been photographed?

That's right. And making sure that the photos are overlapping each other with good margin. That makes it easier for the stitching program to .. stitch them together.

I've found that with panoramas, it is best to take two rows of images and that way you have more vertical to work with - most people get caught up in trying to get all of the horizon in, but dont think about what you will need for editing purposes.. eg, more sky or foreground so that you can ensure the images horizon is level.

I like the crop.
However the colors are too oversaturated for my taste and the horizon slopes down to the left, fix that and the photo will look more professional

Wow. What a gorgeous view.
If you're planning to do more panoramas have a look at Hugin: [link]
It's a powerful tool for stitching together panoramas and correcting the perspective and color differences across the photos.

Flawless. You can't tell where one photo ends and the other begins. We are drawn into this photo and down into the water to the clouds. I love love it!
