Description
This is not as sharp or focused as I would like it to be, but it was a hard shot to get. The lens did not do the chute justice, it's super steep, about 75 degrees. I could not walk down it or up. The only way down was to ride it or fall. I had to climb down a short way while holding on to a woody branch of a tree root in one hand to hold me up and the camera in the other hand to shoot. The fisheye lens actually got my head into the shot which I did not intend but liked the way it changed the whole composition. Anyway here it is, bloody hell it was hard.Related content

I have the same problem with drops too, never EVER as steep in shot.
What lens is this?

This is shot with a Peleng fisheye lens, It's totally manual and hard to get used to but it's worth it when a good one shines through, which is about one to every 200 shots ride on man..................................

Do you ski too? I know a lot of bikers tend to. Your description of what you had to do reminds me of how impressed I always am watching Warren Miller films - the skiers themselves are impressive but the cameramen are on the same terrain and keeping the picture in focus. That takes talent!

Hey, thanks so much I used to ski alot (I was a ski bum native to Colorado) and know of the films, that is a huge compliment. I don't ski anymore and am rooted firmly in the desert. skiing is very costly these days and I just can't take the snow anymore............

It's a great comp bro... wide angles are notorious for destroying the steep effect, but the angle of view makes up for it I think.
Man, now I have to go ride after work!

no problem bro - here's the manufacturer's site, this link should go right to the product:

you have to sort of "rig" it, to keep in place up high, but I'm sure you'll figure something out.... hope this helps!

I like it...
But you are right, it looks like a very VERY moderate slope indeed. But I don't think you would contemplate moderate slopes.

That, my dear, is probably not a bad thing. In times like this the question must be asked: how much do I really love my hips and knees???

I know what NOT to try...10mm.
I got in 24 miles on the trails last weekend....and I'm about to go do some more this afternoon!
Got some good rides coming up in a few weeks at Flat Rock Ranch and the Madrone trail at Canyon lake. I always take my camera but never get photographs as good as yours!
