Team Rocket has a Dewott that they are trying to force to evolve. But, they want to keep certain qualities that it already has; just make it stronger. So they create a dark evolution where Dewott becomes a 'ninja' instead of a samurai.
I didn't want to go to stereotypically 'dark,' and decided to go with a more noble, assasin sort of feel than a ninja lurking in the shadows. Anyways, better late than never

When I first saw this, I pictured him being a badass sushi chef and using fighting moves to slice and dice everything.
The sketchy style is a nice touch as well.

Aw it's pretty~ I like the thought process behind the design, it wouldn't be you if you went too stereotypical and got "dark." Noble suits the line better as well, and I like the overall design, looks functional, and I love the mane around it's neck, looks fluffy c:
