Description
Five of the most common troop-carried grenadier weapons in the known galaxy. Like most troop-carried weapons, the majority of heavy weapons too have a collapsed form to allow easier storage without disassembly and to allow the soldier to move without being over-encumbered.
1: RK-14 Spjyt Recoilless Rifle:
The RK-14 was developed by Forsmark Hardware shortly after First Contact with The Alliance at the request of the Jotunheim Self-Defense Force, seeking to utilize the new materials science and propulsion techniques introduced by the aliens to create a reliable multi-purpose platform cheap and light enough to be carried as tertiary weapon by all their combat personnel. Initially limited to the democratic human and Beka markets, the URRP (Unauthorized Replication-Rights Protection) system was overcome in 2365, allowing widespread replication by all major weapons manufacturers. Although simplistic and with limited aim-assist, the Spjyt's low cost (similar to most carbines), reliability, and versatility has nonetheless led to it being one of the most common designs across numerous species; especially on black markets and in The Frontier, as all components can be made with fairly simplistic fabrication equipment.
Feed system: bullpup magazine.
Capacity: 10 rounds/mag.
Cartridge: 25mm self-propelled.
Fire mode: Semi-automatic.
Rate of fire: 180 rounds/minute.
effective range: 300 to 1200 metres.
2: SMR-54 Koyeilâh Munitions Launcher:
Using a system-integrated coating system, the Koyeilâh uses a rail-acceleration system to launch self-guided munitions and encase them in a plasma bubble to reduce drag and aerodynamic drift during high-altitude archs. Although the recoil is quite heafty even compared to anti-materiel rifles, this allows the SMR-54 to quickly launch a hyper-velocity fire-and-forget device through any clear trajectory once a target has been designated, and achieve speeds beyond which most anti-missile systems are effective. The Koyeilâh is manufactured by Senahi Munitions and Alliance Requisitions for the Anaghor Republic and Coalition of Free States, however many other forces have become secondary buyers on the open market, such as the Raproridean's Supernational Union, Kayhlean Sovereignties, Re'k-thir Vassal, and innumerable Frontier Republics.
Feed system: bullpup magazine.
Capacity: 15 rounds/mag.
Cartridge: 20mm seeker.
Fire mode: Semi-automatic.
Rate of fire: 220 rounds/minute.
effective range: up to 2500 metres.
3: AV-4 Arivair Anti-Vehicular Rifle:
Using micro-nuclear munitions and a cyclic microfusion cell, the AV-4 is the forth iteration of the Kami'zech Empire's initiative to produce personel-carried directed energy weapons and has been relatively successful. Using a shaped micronuclear detonation to produce an avalanche of alpha particles moving at relativistic speed and using magnetic fields comparable to larger vehicle-mounted railguns to focus the beam, the AV-4 shoots a neutral beam far to fast for any shields to have an appreciable effect and flash-detonates the contacted armor under the intense ionizing radiation. Although very prone to overheating, requiring a short warm-up period, and the damage delivered by each beam being very limited, the Kamian Peacekeeping Forces have proven it's efficiency in disciplined coordiated strikes during the Marichnu Uprisings, time and time again preventing the insurgent factions form fielding any armor or starships over the last 40 years.
Due to the Empires relaxed weapon ownership and export laws, after-market variants are common across the entire galaxy; particularly The Rift, Kayhlean Sovereignties, and The Frontier.
Feed system: break-action.
Capacity: has to replace coolant sinks and barrel after 20 rounds.
Cartridge: 5mm micronuclear.
Fire mode: Semi-automatic.
Rate of fire: 45 rounds/minute.
effective range: 50 to 500 metres.
4: Kelab Multi-Application Tool:
A multi-purpose system developed by the Anaghor Republic's Engineering Corps, the Kelab MAT launch system is used for everything from setting wireless energy transfer relays, sensor nodes, welding starship armor, setting explosives to clear rubble for construction, anchoring shield projectors and turrets, and constructing fortifications; and occasionally for combat; firing buckshot in CQC or micromissile at range. It is able to achieve all these functions by using different "ammunition" types adapted for deployment via a common device, allowing the tech troopers of the Engineering Corps to have a wide array of functionality and combat capability while carrying only one (albeit heavy) weapon/heavy tool combo. The primary barrel is fed from a box mag compatible with all the listed functions and a wide array of ammo; the under-slung "barrel" is in fact the housing of a lightweight UAV, being able to deploy variants for scouting, tech-attacks, or target-designation.
Feed system: box magazine.
Capacity: 54 rounds/mag.
Cartridge: 15mm multi-compatible.
Fire mode: automatic.
Rate of fire: 300 rounds/minute.
effective range: 900 metres.
5: TK-12 Animositour Adhesive Grenade Launcher:
Featuring a unique controlled-recoil multi-phase firing system, the Animositour was originally developed by Niyxarith Risk Control Solutions for the various security companies, planetary militias, and tactical law enforcement units of the venomairie and their client species'. Using smart munitions and a simultaneous-detonation sequence, the TK-12 fires a five-round burst of radius-controlled miniature munitions that can be set to either flashbang, immobilization, plasma, or flechette (or a combination thereof) to deliver overwhelming anti-personnel firepower while minimizing collateral damage. The controlled-recoil system directing all recoil upwards rather than backwards was a necessity to allow kalgesh without exo-suits to fire the weapon without tearing apart their shoulder; necessitating a multi-phase firing sequence and advanced aim-assist CPU to ensure a full burst will land on-target despite the low muzzle velocity of 50 m/s and the arch it necessitates.
Although hard to use and highly expensive, the Animositour is common among professional Freelancers and the dedicated ordinance technicians of established mercenary companies across all known space.
Feed system: bullpup box magazine.
Capacity: 120 rounds/mag.
Cartridge: 3.5mm smart munition.
Fire mode: 5-round burst.
Rate of fire: 990 rounds/minute.
effective range: 200 metres.
