Description
A relatively young goldilocks world orbiting the F-class star Zavijava, Praacheen is composed mostly of light metals, has a largely solidified core with the remaining geothermal activity and tectonic motion being driven by the one-two-resonating orbit of it's two moons, Lehakoe and Śirā, and was described in the official report of the initial survey as "a world chemically and energetically optimized for clean manufacturing, refining, and kaiju". With an abundance of scandium, manganese, titanium, and aluminium, the rusted ocean and algal blooms take on a magenta red hue, while terrestrial flora based on xanthophyll and phaephytin b gleam a golden-titanium yellow under their metallic carapaces protecting the life from Zavijava's harsh UV and periodic variance. One of the planets colonized by humanity in the first expansion wave between 2060 and 2080, Praacheen is home to an abundance of light metals and reinforced semi-crystalline biochemistry; along the shorelines and massive inland flatlands huge crystal pillars protrude upwards of a kilometre above the surrounding terrain, giving way to primal jungles, forests, and grasslands of arsenic-catalyzed flora that while simple often reach a hundred metres out from the undergrowth and anchoring structure to produce the habitats and food of the massive heptapods that dominate the terrestrial food chain. While most of the crystal-covered heptapods are either low-browsing herbivores equivalent to megafauna of most other worlds or four-legged pursuit predators of similar gigantic proportions, some taxon grow large enough to support their own mountainous ecosystems and leave profound impacts on surrounding geology; the largest handful specimens counting into the triple-digit thousand tons, and being constantly tracked and monitored as their shear size would not only pose a grave danger to any settlement along their migratory paths, but even changes the topography enough that their enormous mass has to be accounted for during atmospheric FTL jumps. The oceanic wildlife is no less spectacular, with complex reefs hosting a multitude of exotic organisms ranging from the microscopic to mycelic superorganisms spanning entire continental shelfs. The base of the aquatic food chain is made up of various pseudoplants, plankton and chemotrophs that filter-feeding and bottom-feeding organisms of all sizes eat, while the top of the food chain is divided between heatfish, a clade so named because their hunting method of mixing nitroglycerin to produce a shaped metallic jet reminded early explorers of contemporary anti-vehicle munitions, and the reefmovers, massive floating filter-feeders even larger than the largest heptapods, often approaching the size of islands and having reefs form across their bodies over their long lifespans.
The ancient continents of Praacheen are scarred by multiple impact structures that have deposited large quantities of valuable metals close to the surface, allowing easy exploitation without deep mining bores. The people of Praacheen have limited groundside industrial development, leveraging the considerable natural resources of the world for clean production and refinery methods to minimize pollution and preserve the fragile ecology. The coasts of the four largest continents facing into each other remain undeveloped natural sanctuaries, both to preserve the environment and to avoid the natural hazard of the periodic earthquakes as the continents are converging and expected to fuse into a supercontinent within the next two million years.
To cope with the not inconsiderable amount of arsenic and aluminium in the Praacheen environment, the population has used extensive genetic therapies to adapt their metabolism and neurology, greatly improving their health and allowing them to digest local flora and fauna. The praach are one of the human sects divergent enough to be considered their own subspecies, with most born praach having clear skeletal alterations and skin colors ranging from soft blues to dark reds. Their government is called the Praacheen Trichamberchy, a constitutional republic system with a legislature composed of an elected chamber, a chamber appointed through the bureaucratic machinery required to keep the state running, and a chamber appointed through plutocratic lease, and the executive is appointed through a combination of popular vote, district support, and judicial review. While not a full democracy, the Praacheen Trichamerchy has remained a stable and relatively free nation since its independence from the UN following the Contact Proxies between 2321 and 2329.
