I still suck at backgrounds. I did look at Antasma's boss battle to get a proper idea for it.

Turns out the not main villain is one of the last (unfortunately, not THE last) bosses you face in the game, not counting that time he helped out Bowser. Nef here decided to take the Mega Man route following his defeat. The Copy Essence Deluxe power sure is useful...

Why the hell is that shuriken petrifying Nakori? Well, as explained at one point in the game, Antasma crushed the Dark Stone (the other Dream Stone, only powered by nightmares instead...personally, I'd rather call it the Nightmarock, cuz >>>) when he's about to be imprisoned in the dream world, causing its chunks to affect the Pi'illo people, petrifying them into pillows. I bet they're not that comfy since they're...y'know. The shuriken Nef gets with this form doesn't turn people into stone pillows, but it's still good enough to disable one's movement.
