You never know where new Fraggle holes will open up!A mashup of Fraggle Rock, Oz, and Smurfs, drawn mainly to amuse a certain someone with who I share a few fandoms. At some point I noticed that Smurfs are about the same size as Doozers, and this pic developed from there.
Not many people in the US know that Hanna-Barbera did not originate the Smurfs. They were created by the Belgian artist Peyo, who called them "Schtroumpfs," pronounced "shroompfs" which means "whatchamacallits." The comics, which are available in English, the original French, and a bunch of other languages, are pretty good, and not sugary like the H-B cartoon. I tell you, it does my heart good to see someone clobbering le Schtroumpf à lunettes with a big wooden mallet.
Note to self: never hand-letter cartoons again. Even Comic Sans is better than my printing.

The Fraggles eat the Smurfs out of house and home. Well, they would, except after one bite Fraggles fall over and spend the next few hours staring at the sky and giggling.

I can't say I've always wondered that, but then I have always wondered about Donald Duck's teeth. How can he have visible teeth in one panel--say, when he's gritting them in anger--and then have only a bill in the next? Are his teeth retractile? Do they turn invisible? Compared to that, the nature of Smurf houses is positively trivial!

Even if the Fraggles weren't utter pacifists, they live in caves and the Maurfs live in the forest. They have no common turf, so no reason to fight.

Oh, it won't be that bad. He's a little disappointed that Gobo still won't believe he can fly, but he soon forgets about all that and just looks at all the pretty colors everywhere. "Wow... the breeze is purple and green!" "Sure, Wembley."
