Description Here's a cel from Boober Strikes Again , a fanfic (sorta) based on the animated Fraggle Rock series. If you've never heard of that, it's because you had more entertaining things to do on Saturday mornings. Like scrub the bathroom tile. With your toothbrush.

Boober may get fed up to HERE and want everybody to leave him the heck alone, but he's never too miffed for someone who needs "Doctor Boober," especially if said Fraggle in need is his daughter Sage.

such a sweet pic,
boober may be a grump at times, but a fraggle must have a heart of cold stone to be mad at sweet little sage...

In the story, he's got not reason to be mad at her; others in the family have worked his nerves until he goes off on everybody and wants to be left alone. Sage is his biggest supporter, although he doesn't know that because she's been leaving him alone.

Well, if you still feel like drawing it, don't let me stop you. I always like to see other people's takes on my stuff.

Plus, I'm not too happy with Boober's pose.

Very adorable! Another one of the sweetest, most heartwarming pics you have done, after Sage and Janken hugging! I love how Boober is not in a bad mood with his daughter, which is how it should be.

Heh, thanks. She's just about the only character who didn't get on his nerves in that story.

I remember that cartoon. It wasn't as good as the original show, but I still very much enjoyed it as a kid. ^_^

It bothers me big time because it was such a poor imitation of the show. The worst part was that it completely ignored the show's whole reason for being, y'know, world peace and understanding each other across cultures and stuff.

Yeah, and they didn't even bother to write new songs for the show.
They just reused songs from the original show.

I can't even watch it nowadays cuz it's such a bad imitation. I tried. I really did. I think Cantus' one appearance in the cartoon killed it for me.
As a kid I loved it cuz "Hey, it's more Fraggle Rock. And it's a cartoon. Awesome."

Oh, what they did to Cantus was dreadful. He looked like a freakin' Sneetch. And he sounded like Weird Al Yankovic! And he was only there as a plot device, to put Gobo to sleep so he could have a dream. His part could just as easily have been played by a glass of warm radish milk.

The reusing songs bothered me too. Some were OK, although I felt sorry for Wembley, having all his best songs given to other characters. I really hate that they rewrote Just a Dream Away, a song about the acceptance of one's mortality, into a freakin' cooking song! And yet...it's fun hearing Boober sing with such joy and passion about cooking. Boober was by far the best part of that cartoon.

I agree one hundred percent, especially about Boober.
The fact that Rob Paulsen did his voice doesn't hurt either.
I think he also did the Trash Heap, but I could be wrong.

Yep, and Sprocket. I didn't much care for his Marjory; she was trying too hard to be Russo-Jewish. However, that was at least partially the fault of the writing. But Boober, well, he put a lot of life into that character. He snapped off some great lines. A pity the rest of the voice cast wasn't up to that level. Mokey sounded tranquilized, Red was squealy, Wembley was shrill and annoying, and Gobo was bland. Matt was a "nice try," got close to the voice but not the delivery.

(Yes, I focus on voice acting a lot. That's my dream career. The only thing keeping me from pursuing it is this earning-a-living business I gotta do.)

Yes, I have to agree with you there.
Boober was the only good-sounding character in the whole bunch.

I often wonder what it's like to do voice acting, but sadly my acting skills are terrible. XP
Not much practice under my belt.

Heh, I've actually done some voice acting for fan projects. I voiced The Sorceress in a fan-made He-Man movie titled "Grayskull", and in the ReBoot Abridged series I voiced Enslaved Hexadecimal. And I also did a commentary track on the Brak Show season 1 DVD, and I've done other voice bits for Oz "radio play" projects.

It's a lot of fun, but because I record at home and have no feedback I have to do takes, play them back, decide what I don't like (pauses, underplayed delivery) and then try again. Hexadecimal was especially fun because I could really go over the top with her.

Oh I bet. Hex was always my favorite in that series.

Me too! I have a ReBoot website (Slack & Hash's Domain ) and one of its subsections is "Hex Nuts Unanimous", a Hexadecimal fan club.
