I will state this for the record: Plushtrap is telling the truth. This is how baby nightmares are created. The Freddles were made the same way. Fredbear and Nightmare are the ones who have the most time to devote to doll crafting, as they are only on duty a night or two a week if that. So, they are the "mothers."
Think about it. In biological beings, mothers are female because female bodies are able to produce young. Among the Nightmares, young are produced in a workshop, so motherhood has nothing to do with gender.

The best joke of all was that everyone thought Plushy's existence sprung from a sexual endeavour between Springtrap and Mac Fredburger. Yikes, people! Why?
It's fun to watch Plushtrap explain to Marionette (and the users) how she came to be. And your pose version of "Beware the Cutetrap" is so adorable and much more lifelike than my stiff stick! 
"I know a human!" *gasp!* Did Plushtrap adress Calvin? 
Wow! The whole pizza is gone and the little Freddles are stuffed!

While the Nightmare animatronics looks are based on characters that are refered to in gender pronouns, the Nightmares themselves have no biological genders or functions. They more or less use the gender pronouns as they seem fit. It is, at least in this version.
