It is the name of character in Barlowe's supposedly "upcoming" book. It has been in making for nearly 30 years...

From what I've seen, it should be safe to assume it's ALL aliens, at least from a human perspective- If you can find it, Barlowe's Guide to Extraterrestrials has a whole lot of sketches of Thype and the creatures he encounters.

You can see some of his drawings on-line, like at sketchthesater.com The book does show about 20-25 more images but they're just preview of actual book in work.

Thanks! I have another one in WIP.

Yes, you can see more of Thype works in The Alien Life of Wayne Barlowe. Wayne said he is still working on it, it has been in development since 80's. He has couple of other books in progression like 2nd Exepdition, to Belon III and more.

ah, I need to buy 'the alien life of wane barlowe' now... and seriously, a second expedition is being painted and written!? do you know if it will be in the same journal format of the first? and... is Belon III a seperate book, or is that where the new expodition is taking place?

sorry for such questions, I cannot seem to find the information n the internet...

I got the book from Amazon marketsplace. I e-mailed Wayne about Belon III, he didn't say anything about it. From Alien Life, he discussed about upcoming book on Belon III which would be same as Darwin IV except he is co-illustrating with another artist. I'll have to find his name. It's basically new expedition from what I see- there's a preview of it, too.

Nothing on internet about this... He is very private about those information, same as for Thypus. Don't worry about questions, I'm open to good discussion or conversation

hmmm... I don't know if I like the sound of this, the other artist couldn't possibly match barlowe's illustrative skills, it would be like placing a vat of red alge beside a vat of green agle... similar, yet uncompadable...

er, to you not mean THYPE?

Auto-correction kicks in sometime, arrgh. Heh Yes, I think pretty most of artists out there would not be matched either way. Only difference we would see is how close the style would be, whether it be marginal or vast. If we're talking about Warhol then that's different story- his style is easily duplicated while others have uniqueness to them. Barlowe did created many of unique styles that we all strive to be similar, same, or better. I am still analyzing his styles, I take a look at them everyday and try to see if I miss anything. I must admit, every week, I find something. I'm sure from the very beginning of my gallery which is works from Oct 2009 to now, you will see difference- most of those difference are result of studying the illustration of Barlowe and several other artists. I would like to be great as him but I have no desire to replace him, I'll be happy just to stand next to him. He has 20-30 years of illustrating experience under his sleeves plus probably 50 years of drawing- he's 53 now. So, we all have plenty of time to improve ourselves and be as good as he is Red or green algae, it's still algae- only difference is color and it doesn't mean red would sucks.

on the note of alge, i acctualy prefer the red varietey in terms of appearance, but that's just a prefrence...

indeed, studying the wrk of Barlowe, Mike Correrio, Abiogenesis, Moai, and quite a few people from CA.org, I have improved my own style... haha, compare my 2008 work to my current work, there's a massive difference!

and no, we cannot wish to replace him, just as we cannot hope to replace Davinchi, we simply stive to be as good as they are in terms of skill, while developing a unique style that can be recogonised as our own... I'm still not quite there yet.
