Hey Everyoooooone! It's Nehpets here. And today we're back reading another chapter of our RWBY Male Reader Insert. Okay, I really had to remove the flashback on this one since it was a bit redundant in the story, so expect shortness of the story than usual...

Linna : At what cost, (D/N)? A lot of things have already changed when we had our own families. And my only daughter is still missing!

Your father is currently in Mistral, trying to convince one of his old teammates to ally with him, but fails do to so. They were currently in Linna's Sukiya-zukuri-styled mansion, in their living room, a large garden seen just outside the door. The matured white tiger Faunus was wearing a long kimono in her color theme. Cups of tea were placed down on the table for each of them as they discuss, but the tea had already gone cold during their lengthy talk. Linna stands up from her kneeling position from the table as she walks towards her door, staring at her garden.

Linna: You mustn't let your anger get the best of you, (D/N). You know better. Alex won't want to see yourself avenging him out of hatred.

(D/N): I know that Linna...... If only.... Maybe if I just.... DAMN IT ALL!!!

Out of pure anguish, he stands up abruptly and turns over the small table, spilling tea all over the floor. Linna slightly flinched at your father's sudden outburst. She rushes to his side and embraces her old team leader out of pity, trying her best to comfort the crying Huntsman.

Linna: His sacrifice wasn't in vain, (D/N). He knew the risks and he took it bravely. For you, and your family.

After (D/N) finally calmed down, Linna gave him a faint smile, and he thanks her. One of Linna's envoys enters the room and tells that their meeting will be held shortly.

Linna: I have to go, (D/N). Remember: The only way to live is to avoid hate. Try to go against hate, and you'll be struck down by hate. Until next time..... Cap.

With those parting words, Linna leaves the Huntsman in the living room as she walks away for their council meeting. As (D/N) leaves the house, dismayed that he wasn't able to convince his old teammate, one of his underling scout rushes to him.

Scout: Sir, one of our own has spotted a dangerous Grimm in the mountains just outside of Haven, which they were able identify as "Nuckalavee." We were also told to give you the task to hunt it down.

(D/N): A Nuckalavee, huh? Never seen one of those for a long time now. I'll just have a quick word with a few pilots and I'll hunt it down.

-----Meanwhile-----

As Sky prepares for his escape, heads into his lab to grab his gears and equipment. He goes into his wardrobe, and pulls out his silver coat, but hesitates on wearing it for moment. As he gazes upon it flashes of memories come running into his mind, from his first day in the academy, experiencing first love, his first mission with his team, and much more. A faint smile appears on his lips, before he shakes his head and discards it.

Sky: It was a good journey.....

He goes back into his wardrobe and rummages from the deepest depths of it, until he finally brings out a small black leather box, a hand-scanner present on its surface. He places his hand on the scanner and a satisfying bleep rings out. It opens with a quiet hiss, and Sky grins at what he sees inside.

Sky: Perfect....

Outside of the laboratory, Angel is seen just outside the metallic doors, patiently waiting. After a few seconds, Sky finally walks out of the lab, wearing a dark coat with a long coattail split into three, and a silver sash strapped around his waist, along with a small metallic, magnetic plate. His hands are covered by gray gloves with white-colored metal armor plates over his fingers, and he wears dark blue pants, with black leather boots, and a considerably-sized backpack . On his left hand, he carries a dark gray mask with a silver lightning across the right eye socket, and on his right hand, he carries his newly-designed weapons, Dawn and Twilight , but the sheath and the handle were under a disguise of brown color, as if they were covered by brown leather straps.

Angel: Got everything you need, Sky? Klein is waiting for you in the secret passage.

Sky: Yes....

He puts on his mask that covered his entire face, his sharp extremely light blue eyes, slowly transitioning into an electric blue color, uncovered by the mask, filled with determination. As soon as the mask touched his head, the mask suddenly changed Sky's hair into dark shade of black color with pale blue highlights at the tips of his hair.

Sky: And the name's Stormlight, sister.

-----Meanwhile-----

A cracked signed bearing the name Kuroyuri rests against ruins. The whole village was a complete wreck, buildings were destroyed, and houses were burned. Whatever glory the village had was all but vanished. Ruby and Jaune walk down the road, carrying Qrow on a stretcher. They pause and look unhappily around.
Jaune: Oh, man.
Ruby: Come on. Any of these places look like a pharmacy?

Jaune scans the ruined buildings to see any signs of pharmacy but they were all charred and burned, making hard to identify which one was the pharmacy.
Jaune: It's... honestly hard to tell.
Ruby: Ren really didn't want to come here, did he?
Jaune:Uh... didn't seem so.
Ruby: Do you know... why?
Jaune: (sighs) I think I have a pretty good idea...
They walk along the ruins of the village as they began their search. A couple of minutes has already passed and Jaune walks up to Ruby, both are looking dejected that they weren't able to find anything to lessen Qrow's condition.
Jaune: Nothing.
Ruby: We should get back to Qrow.
'Qrow leans against a dead sakura tree, groaning. Though not conscious, he holds a hand over his wound. Ruby crouches near Qrow with Jaune standing over them both.
A creature makes a loud noise from off in the distance, causing both Ruby and Jaune to turn. Jaune's hand immediately goes to his sword and looks around for the source of the noise.
Ruby: It's far off.
Jaune: I know, but Ren, (Y/N) and Nora are still out there.
Ruby looks at Qrow before standing and approaching Jaune.
Ruby: I'm sorry.
Jaune: Huh?
He turns around to face her, though she is not looking up.
Ruby: This is all my fault. I should have never dragged you guys into this.
Jaune: You didn't drag us in. We wanted to come.
Ruby: But you didn't know about Tyrian or the weird girl in a creepy cloak, about—
Jaune: Ruby. We lost... We lost Pyrrha.You lost her, too. And Penny, and your team, and in a way... your sister. I can almost say the same to (Y/N). I mean, he lost his team too. But you're still here. Both you and (Y/N) are. Despite everything you've lost, everything you could still lose, you still chose to come out here. (Y/N) did too. Despite knowing his life is in great danger now with his identity as the son of the Winter Maiden is revealed, he still came out to help.
Ruby turns to face Jaune, and becomes emotional as he continues.
Jaune: Because you two felt like you could make a difference.
She lifts her head and looks at him.
Jaune: You didn't drag us along. You and (Y/N) both gave us the courage to follow you.
He puts his hand on her shoulder. She smiles at him, grateful, and he smiles back.

-----Meanwhile-----

Wind blows with the whistling note of high altitude as present-day Ren walks a stony ledge. Before him is more of the mountain, with a cave just ahead.
Ren: We never get the easy path, do we?
Nora: Easy's no fun anyway. You OK?

Ren nods at Nora's question.
Ren: Mmm. And you?
Nora: I've got you here, don't I?
Ren looks at her as if he does not know what to make of her response. They then suddenly heard a small cry of pain behind them. They turned their attention towards it to see you crouching down on the ground, flashes of your Aura still mixed with a purplish color spreads throughout your body. Ren and Nora rush to your side as they help you get back up on your feet.

Nora: You don't have to push yourself over your limit, (Y/N). You should head back.

You furiously shook your head as you tried concealing your discomfort when a wave of pain flooded your body.

You: It's too late for that, Nora. Now, come on. There's more than one way up a mountain.
Ren and Nora watches you for a beat, their faces filled with worry. A thunder rumbles, and they turn to look up at the sky.
You: Hey! Guys! There's wind blowing out of this cave!
Ren and Nora catches up to you, leaves blowing outward toward you and the others.
Nora: Think it might lead to the peak?
Ren: I suppose there's only one way to find ou—ah!
He cuts off as a large piece of fabric abruptly blows out from the cave and covers his face. Nora giggles, covering her mouth with her hands, while you just chuckle at sight and shake your head in amusement, as Ren frees himself.
Ren: Yes, yes. Very funny.
He looks down at the marked fabric in his hands and goes still. Nora lowers her hands and steps closer.
Nora: Hey, what's wrong?
Ren: This is the symbol for Shion Village.

You: What do you mean?

You approached them and stood at Ren's side, and it was indeed the symbol for Shion Village.
Nora: Shion? But that's... that's the village where we found the Huntsman. It's weeks away from here!
Ren drops the fabric and runs into the cave.
Nora: Ren! Wait!
Ren stops once he is far enough into the cave to have a good look at what's there. Nora catches up to him and becomes alarmed at what she sees.
Nora: Oh my gosh...
In the spacious area, weapons speckle every place you can look. Swords, axes and staffs are all either propped up or on the ground. Ren moves in and picks up an arrow. He studies it while you and Nora approach just behind him. As you and Nora look, Ren also sees what's on the ground... a large hoofprint, same as the one you saw back in Shion as well.

???: Well, well, well. If it isn't the troublesome, merry band of foolish teenagers.

Alarmed at the suddeny voice, you, Ren, and Nora draw your weapons out of surprise and turned to see another opening on the opposite end of the cave, and there you saw the mysteriously cloaked girl from before, her arms crossed as she looks outside the opening. She turns to face them, her mask covering her face, and her hood covering almost half of her head. She tilts her head to the side as she notices there were some people missing.

Cloaked Figure: Say, I don't see the girl with the silver eyes, or the wounded huntsman, or even the boy who can't fight. Don't tell me you left them all alone out there in the wild as easy prey?

You glared the cloaked girl as you raised your weapon defensively. She walks back inside the cave, starts walking to her side. You and the others walked on the other direction, circulating each other.

You: Why are you here? What do you want?

Cloaked Figure: I'm simply here to do what I'm told: I'm just here for the girl with the silver eyes and nothing else. And I doubt the girl will last long against what I sent against her.

Panic instantly rushed into your head.

You: What do you--- What are you talking about?! What did you sent against Ruby?!

Cloaked Figure: A Grimm. One that is capable enough to destroy a entire village single-handed.

Ren's eyes widen in great shock, when a sudden flash of memory about the Grimm she was talking about passed through his mind..

Ren: You mean... You didn't... You couldn't...

The cloaked figure only laughs in complete malevolence.

Cloaked Figure: How pathetic. All of you. What are you going to do now? How does it feel to be helpless when you find out your friends are about to die so mercilessly, unable to defend them? I doubt even Qrow Branwen will last long against it, even if he is a huntsman.

She continues laughing evilly, until Ren charges at the cloaked figure in rage.

Nora: Ren!

The cloaked figure just lets out a scoff as she draws her deer knives from her wrists, and blocks the blades from Ren's pistols without even flinching or moving from her spot.

Cloaked Figure: How disappointingly pathetic indeed.

She drives her knee against Ren's stomach with great force, and quickly follows it up with a spinning back kick that knocks Ren back away from her. Nora catches Ren by the shoulder and lands back down safely. The cloaked figure quickly approaches them, but you hastily intercepted her and threw a warning blast of ice near her feet, effectively stopping her from advancing. You ran in front of Ren and Nora as you held your sword in front of you and summoned an ice duplicate of your sword in front of you.

You: Go! Warn Ruby, Jaune, and Qrow. I'll hold her back.

Nora: But your Aura, you can't use it! You'll die!

You: I'll be fine. I can still use my mother's powers without much problem. Go!

With a look of hesitance on their faces, they quickly leave the cave and head towards the other exit and the end of the cave.

Cloaked Figure: No! I won't let you!

She chases after them, but just after Ren and Nora jumped off from the cave, the opening of the cave was instantly sealed with a thick wall of ice, the same being done at the other entrance. The cloaked girl turns her attention to you and sees you with your hand withdrawn and covered in cold smoke.

You: It's you or me that will get out of this cave alive. And I choose me.
