hmmm , real skin color's knuckles is white , such as sonic
skin color of the actual shadow is something brown or darker than normal, not white as I see here
the rest is terribly amazing !

I didn't want to limit myself to what their fur colors are.
Knuckles comes from a mayan type background and those people are normally really dark. And I don't care if I sound stereotypical, but with Knuckle's theme songs always being /rap/, he's always come off as black to me.
And for the sake of variety, and my own personal preference, I made him black.
As for Shadow, I can't see him as anything else but a whiny emo white boy.
