Description
Shot this the other night.Also, I witnessed what could only be ball lightning not more than a couple hundred feet away, floating above the creek.

what kind of camera did you use for this? either you have really good timing or you used a special camera, nonetheless this is a really awesome picture....which is the number 1 reason why i faved it^^

Nope, just a digital camera with full manual control.
I just leave the shutter open for about 30sec intervals, catching lightning or starting a new exposure.
Also, I used iso200 for the least ammount of grain and f6.5-8.
Plus, luck!
I actually left the shutter open a little too long on this one and had a multitude of porch lights, which I burned in &etc.
They sell lightning shutter releases too. Never tried one.

Oh, you will need a tripod for sure. A shutter release in nice too.

awesome, because i always wondered how people could take pictures of lighting...itjust never crossed my mind as to how they did it, but hey, that's an awesome picture you got there, must've been a nasty storm.

Oh, I agree and feel very lucky indeed (thanks muse). Also not to have been struck in a frenzy of lightning (photo) greed.
